We hope you're doing ok. Feel free to drop us a line whenever, about anything, big or small, or stop for a chat when we're selling. Just take care of yourselves, that's all that matters and ignore us at your leisure but please just note we're always there for a chat if you need one. And that your support is never taken for granted.

So firstly, I want to thank you. For reading the mag, buying it as and when you can, contributing as and when, stopping for a chat and listening to our podcasts. The mag is you and you have kept it going, so this is a very humbled appreciation to YOU keeping YOUR fanzine alive. RedNews is such a huge part of my life, obviously, and you've let me bring it in yours and that means so much in a big branded corporate world to still be doing this independent thing trumpeting the great MUFC and its fantastic fan culture and always trying to fight for better. Fiercely independent and unofficial and we're proud of that. That we got to carry on fanzine tradition from the 1980s until now in a massively changed environment is down to you, so thanks!

But we need your help again. So we're here next season. To keep the mag safe for another year.

We still maintain - kick-off changes, rising ticket prices, issues big or small, that fanzines being here as a thorn are as important as ever. The more there are, the better. To let off steam but also try and have a laugh and also attempt to change things, be heard. That we're a good thing to still have around. We know there is a lot of MUFC 'out there' nowadays, but we still hope you value fanzines and see our worth in being here, being 'different', which is a good thing!

We often hear 'support the fanzines' , 'we will miss them when they are gone' - so this is the opportunity, that moment, to support that belief and make a difference for a whole year.

We do want to carry on. The humour, the protests, the Reds young and old writing in, reading the mag, issues that affect us all; we still love doing this. Holding the club to account because we love our Football Club.

We are a small but perfectly formed fanzine, but with no backers or sponsors (the way we like it), you dear readers are the backers. We need to run this campaign to know we can reach the backbone figure to print on, to continue. To know we can manage ever rising costs. The target of 450 Reds subscribing is huge for us.

Today is the 39th anniversary of RedNews - started on April 20th 1987 - where does time go! Thank you so much to every reader, contributor and seller who has helped the mag over the years. We know we have all lost so many good ones too in that period and we never forget them. We also know many of our readers, or will do ahead, and think that's a very nice kinship to share!

And also, I'll be honest, this one is a personal request to you from me. IF we make target this year it means we'll get to April 2027 and make it to 40 years printing. The longest ever MUFC fan culture entity will get to what we think is a quite remarkable achievement - four decades of printing. This campaign reaching target gets us to that 40th anniversary. That will be down to you, again, so I'd really like to ask you to get us to that landmark date please. It will mean the world personally and I hope to you as being part of that fanzine movement and culture as well.

In return you get a fanzine doing fanzine things; warts and all. You get humour, serious topics, passion, United stories; you get a chunk of you really. We will still love doing what we do despite this being one of the most challenging seasons - rain more than ever on opening days, and less fixtures to sell the mag than we have ever faced. We'll make mistakes, who doesn't? We'll be able to keep doing the free pods. But we need your support to do that.

Without wishing to lay it on thick, it's not an easy time to be a small independent fanzine. It seems we face daily hassles now, rather than once in a while, but we know the real world is tough, so asking for your support is difficult right now. We again offer a donated sub service and if things are tough, no questions asked, please get in touch so we can maybe sort out a donated sub to you.

When we get rained on, we stay there. It isn't easy, but we think our selling spots each home matchday are important too, not just for highlighting our fanzine, but the community we try and foster and fight for, for being a visual reminder to the suits of what we are about - that we are still here come what may.

We still believe in MUFC fan culture more than ever, fight for it, celebrate it - we wish the powers that be would understand it more. We never take ourselves too seriously, but love what you allow us to do.

This season alone we have again fought club excess; the South Stand moves, the removal of 3,000 Season Ticket holders (we still await an answer!), away applications and the attacks on Season Ticket holders and tv changes. We know these feel draining, but every dent in our culture needs campaigning against, being a small thorn to fight for normal Reds.

We continue to believe that although of course United life would go on without us, it would be a little bit less fan cultural friendly without RN; up would pop more of the same, but the loss of a unique, independent, totally perfectly imperfect fanzine that you see at every home game and have done since 1987, that it would be a minus for our fan culture.

We're not big. (we're not clever either!). Mag by mag, season by season, we have to fight in the gutter to carry on - you subbing, donating an extra sub, donating, helps us win the battle for another year.

We want your stories, your support, your waves, hugs, handshakes, and if you can support with a subscription for 26/27, or adding a donated sub, for you and a mate or a stranger you have played YOUR part in keeping the mag going.

A fanzine doing fanzine things. We won't always agree. We maintain that's healthy. That there are some articles that you won't like, I know I don't like every article. What a great thing to say and have around in this day and age.

Thank you to all our readers, for supporting us, for letting us know when we get it right and when we get something wrong. An independent publication is important to us. And, we feel, important to you as it provides a different voice - yours - away from the mainstream and official mass.

Despite rising costs we will not raise the cover price for next season (no price rise for 6 years). We know times are difficult and it would not be fair to add that onto you. We have been battered with costs again though, so margins are tighter than ever. So we launch this campaign each April so we can plan ahead with stability if we make target. It's done early to give Reds time to support over the close season. And gives us time to plan ahead with the printer, etc and then deal with the increasingly difficult and unpredictable rising costs we all face. Us making target is both never a given, hence why we ask you all to support, and also never taken for granted by us.

So please help us make it to 40 years next April.

It's down to YOU though, not others if we carry on. If you look away there aren't a mass of Reds ready to support elsewhere, we have a small, core support and that's you. We've always been just us, and we like that, because the mag is YOU.
