DIE versus DIE is a new tabletop RPG from Meldar16. Best suited for fantasy settings, it includes mechanics on how to resolve challenges by muscle, brains, or magick. While you can play with the standard 7 piece ttrpg dice set, it's preferable that you little dice goblins get a whole stinkin' lot of dice.

Like many other TTRPGs, players will use their dice and rules to collectively tell a story with a game master running the show. DIE versus DIE will always use dice rolls to resolve challenges and conflicts. The game master sets a difficulty to overcome an obstacle, and the player will succeed or fail based on a die roll corresponding with the player characters' stats and skills. Your standard dice set (the usual d20, d12, d10, d8, d6 & d4) also acts as a meter for the current potency of those same attributes.

For example, say you need to overcome an obstacle that takes a little MUSCLE, like jumping over a pit or fighting a bro, what do you do? The game master rolls a die for how big the pit or bro is. You roll the d20 (highest on a full MUSCLE meter) for your character to fight or jump. Higher number wins. But wait, there's more! You then add a modifier based on your MUSCLE, and maybe add in a little extra if you got a fight or jump skill bonus, as a treat... What's that? You still failed? Well, bro is gonna hit ya. You lose the d20 from your MUSCLE meter, and now you use the d12  going forward because it's the next die down.

Having a hard time making sense of that example? Maybe you need to use your BRAINS. I'll roll my die, and you roll a d12 because you didn't get that last example. I got a 10. But you got a 10 too? Wait, add your BRAINS modifier. Add your puzzle skill modifier too. Oh dag, you're higher now and you won. That's a good little confidence boost. A confidence boost that will bring your BRAINS meter back up to a d20, you clever genius.

 Your clever genius brain told you that I mentioned MAGICK above? MAGICK in DIE versus DIE is based off an idea from the Meldar16 series Atera Redux. In that campaign setting, MAGICK runs wild and loose. It's dangerous, unpredictable, and you should definitely use it. Definitely. Probably. Maybe. Look, I ain't your parents, ok? You'll roll a die for your current MAGICK meter against a die on how powerful you want that spell to be. If you want to use the fire spell to light a birthday candle, roll a d4. If you want to smite many many bros with an inferno, roll a d20.

So that's the gist of the game. The zine has a ton more details and rules, optional rules, artwork from the talented Melanie Green, and more good cool real good nice words by Sean Moran. We now also have a brand new guest artist, Hodag RPG. Hodag RPG IS GREAT!

We're calling this a playtest because we plan to expand this into a longer book, and want that sweet feedback. Meldar16 also has another zine on this very Crowdfundr website that is going to be compatible with that game. Do you want to make a DIE versus DIE zine too? FULFILLMENT: The zine is near completion, and we expect to put the final touches on it by mid-February. So we expect all PDF copies to be emailed within 48 hours of the campaign closing. We do all printing in-house (no, literally at home inside our house), so print orders will also be fulfilled within a week or so of the campaign ending.
