Mary Dumas hasn't added a story.
Though this is a work of fiction, it is historically accurate, only the soldiers who were there can tell the full tale.

We've all heard of the Rangers and the Seals, but have you ever had time to learn about those who went in before the troops to build the bridges and roads, to destroy the enemy's escape routes and roadways, and to take obstructions out of the way for the soldiers who went in to the battles? Those men were the elite and tenacious members of the combat engineers battalions. Often they were deployed as squads of eight to twelve specialists who could accomplish a job on their own. But because of this they had one of the highest mortality rates of any groups in World War 2. No wonder those who survived any battled called themselves "the lucky ones."
This is the also the story about a certain ten percent of the soldier, sailors, marines, and airmen of WW2 who were considered wrong because they were queer. This tells of their combat buddies and friends who loved them and tried to protect them. There were men and women serving in this great war who had to hide who they could love, or be labeled deviant. And this is also the story of those in the Greatest Generation who suffered with PTSD before anyone put that name to it.
This Crowdfundr is to raise funds for the two 100+ page graphic novels of THE LUCKY ONES: A WW2 COMBAT ENGINEERS STORY. As of today, October 2023, book one is available and ready to send to those who donate to this fundraiser. And any additional funds raised will be used to pay the creative team who brings this story to you.
This story is more than 80 years in the making, and begins with the memories of a man who lived through the war and survived. Bill is being dragged to his 50th reunion of the units he served with, and along the way we witness his dreams and memories, many of the things that caused his trauma and prevented him from even looking for long lost comrades in arms. The art is rendered in a way that helps the reader tell where "real life" ends and reminiscences and dreams begin.
Thank you for your support.
