I am a free software advocate and student who's current program of study is almost exclusively defined by how to get into the proprietary software industry and how to write software for Windows exclusively. This saddens me. I've lost motivation and I'm burning out due to the high stress nature of the program. On top of this, I am slowly going deaf, but I'm not deaf enough to qualify for disability. I am completely broke and resort to borrowing money from my parents. 

This way of living is sickening.

I have started this crowdfunding project as a way to write a program outside of school, to remind myself what I love doing. I would also love to pay my own bills again.

If I can successfully raise the money to pay for a months worth of expenses for me, I will sink in 160 hours of development time into this app, which should be more than enough time to finish it. I may then choose to pursue future projects like this, just as a hobby.

If I can raise enough to pay myself minimum wage for my efforts, I will start my own company while I look for work after my program, focusing exclusively on sustainably writing fully free and open source software.

While I doubt I can do it, if I can pay myself the low-end market rate for a full-time developer, I will prematurely quit school and work full-time at my business. A full 40 hours every week, working exclusively on free software apps.

Of course, I will finish writing this app before moving on to any new ones.
