Help Bring A New Webcomic To Life!

A thousand years ago, the Demon King and his armies marched across the lands, terrorizing the people who crossed their paths. Only one man stood up to the Demon King, and his name…was Richard.

At least, this is the history Vanita grew up with her whole life.

Her story takes place in the present day. But one morning, on her usual jog in the park, she comes across the legendary Demon King himself - heavily beaten and close to exhaustion in the bushes.

And so begins this domestic story of a trans girl trying to make sense of the fabled Demon King passing out on her couch.

Wait…What?

Vanita and the Demon King is how I described it above - the story of a trans girl and a Demon King living under one roof in a society that does not understand either of them.

These two have their struggles. Vanita is living on her own for the first time, starting her life over as a witch in training with few resources available for her. The Demon King is placed out of time, grappling with how Richard and his forces overtook the world the King now finds themselves in.

If you backed one of my previous KickStarters, The Case of the Wendigo, you should know that these stories happen in the same city! In fact, the events of Vanita and the Demon King take place roughly one year after the events of The Case of the Wendigo.

You don’t need to read The Case of the Wendigo to know what happens in Vanita and the Demon King. These two have their own struggles to overcome - but you may see some character cameos.

Ok, But Who?

I’m Kelci, the artist and writer of this project (and the person writing this page right now. Surprise, yo). I’ve done a TON of webcomics and KickStarter projects (especially of the LGBTQ+ variety), and I’m back to ask for your support for this new comic project.

YOU, dear reader, have your own wants and needs - but I hope that the pitch for Vanita and the Demon King resonates with you. We all need a little more odd-couple vibes, especially of the queer variety.

What’s Needed

I need a little funding to make this comic happen.

Here's the breakdown:

$150 for website hosting
$20 for registering a website domain
$30 for processing fees

And that…is almost it!

Any funding raised beyond those costs will cover comics production, such as writing and drawing.

Where Will This Webcomic Post?

The newest pages will be posted in my public email newsletter.

Crowdfundr Backers and Subscribers of my Clubs will see early updates, comic scripts, and pages-in-progress. This is thanks to a special, exclusive branch of my email newsletter.

After Subscriber/Backer updates and the public newsletter post, pages will be posted on charlieandclow.com. The new domain I want to register will redirect to the first page of Vanita and the Demon King on this site. (It's like how I have The Case of the Wendigo currently set up.)

There will also be comic archives mirrored on my Ko-fi page and on a new Webtoon page.

Yes, there are a lot of places to post a webcomic. But Crowdfundr Backers and email subscribers will get the updates first in my email newsletters.

How Will This Comic Happen?

With your help, of course!

My asking goal will cover the basics of launching a webcomic. Anything raised beyond this will cover overhead and making pages. There are physical rewards also available, but the costs of printing those are low and can be covered by the physical reward pledges. Yes, that includes the subscriptions (costs for those are already covered by the pledge being asked).

Most of the rewards available here are digital. So any pledges to these will cover producing pages for Vanita and the Demon King.

All the rewards here are a la carte.

That means you can make your own reward package! Mix and match rewards to your heart’s content. Any shipping costs involved will default to the priciest shipping cost and then bundle everything together free on top of it. Crowdfundr is kind in that way.
