Dr. Sylvia Earle – Time’s First “Hero for the Planet”
An icon of ocean conservation, Dr. Sylvia Earle has spent over 7,000 hours underwater, exploring Earth’s last wild frontiers. As a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence and the first female chief scientist of NOAA, she has spent her life protecting the blue heart of our planet. At 90 years old, she is more determined than ever to secure full protection for the Arctic. She believes that without urgent action, humanity’s fate is sealed.
Michael AW – The Visionary Storyteller Behind the Mission
A multi-award-winning wildlife photographer, filmmaker, and ocean advocate, Michael AW is no stranger to epic environmental storytelling. In 2000, he produced "24 Hours Beneath the Rainbow Sea" in the Maldives—a groundbreaking National Geographic documentary. His latest film, "2099: Power in Us," follows 110 changemakers on a mission to the Antarctic, crafting resolutions for Global Net Zero by 2035. Michael has led four flag polar expeditions for the Explorer Club, documented the climate crisis firsthand, and won over 68 international awards for his work. As the Project Director of BIG ACE, Michael AW brings his expertise to turn this expedition into a cinematic movement—one that will resonate with audiences and decision-makers worldwide.
Craig Leeson – The Powerhouse Filmmaker (A Plastic Ocean, The Last Glaciers)
Craig Leeson, the award-winning director of "A Plastic Ocean" and "The Last Glaciers," joins this expedition to continue his mission: exposing the biggest environmental threats of our time. His previous work has changed global policy on plastic pollution, and now, with "Voices for the Voiceless," he is determined to do the same for the Arctic.
David Doubilet & Jennifer Hayes – National Geographic’s Legendary Visual Storytellers
With over 75 stories published in National Geographic, David Doubilet is the most celebrated underwater photographer in history. Together with Jennifer Hayes, an aquatic ecologist and photojournalist, this duo will capture the haunting beauty and devastation of the Arctic like never before. Their images will serve as powerful evidence of a world disappearing before our eyes.
Esther An – Corporate Sustainability Pioneer, City Developments Limited (CDL)
As Chief Sustainability Officer at City Developments Limited (CDL), Esther An has been a trailblazer in corporate environmental responsibility. Under her leadership, CDL became the first Singaporean company to issue a green bond and a global leader in sustainable business practices.
Sharon Kwok – Conservationist, Actress & Ocean Advocate
Sharon Kwok, a Women Divers Hall of Fame inductee and passionate wildlife conservationist has spent years fighting for marine protection in Asia. With a background in both media and environmental advocacy, she is a key voice in mobilizing audiences for climate action.
Professor David Holland – The Arctic Scientist Who Knows What’s Coming
A leading expert in polar climate science from New York University, Professor Holland has spent decades studying the Arctic’s melting glaciers and rising sea levels. His research informs global climate models, providing indisputable evidence of why we must act now.
Dan Laffoley – The Voice of the IUCN & Global Conservation Expert
A key figure in global conservation policy, Dan Laffoley of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) has been instrumental in shaping marine protection efforts worldwide. His expertise will be crucial in turning scientific findings into actionable policies.
Hillary Yifei O’Sullivan – the Girl and Her Piano
Hillary is a 12-time award-winning classical pianist and recently received the prestigious Best Classical Award and the Gold Award at the WPTA International Competition 2024. In 2023, Hillary joined Ocean Geographic’s Antarctic Climate Expedition as the youngest Key Opinion Ambassador. She played a significant role in conveying the urgent message of climate change through music and photography, including performing the original music score “Rhapsody of a Changing Antarctic.” In October 2023, she had the honour of performing “Rhapsody” in the presence of the King of Bhutan at a remote highland village located 4,000 meters above sea level. Her experiences were documented in a short film titled “The Girl and Her Piano,” which explores her thoughts on the pressing challenge of climate change.
