Doors of Mystere | Our Story

For over two decades, the Doors of Mystere creator Eric Miranda (design wizard, lead artist and master builder) has dreamed, talked and planned about the day he would return to Burning Man to offer his own creative contributions.

Like many who have stepped onto the Playa, Eric found incredible miracles. Burningman is a land of possibility. It is an invitation for creation. In its own beautiful way, the art created for the playa contributes to the creative potential within each individual who interacts with it. Art inspires. Art allows people to dream. Art offers up a vision for the future.

Entering Burningman is to enter a spiritual, physical, and psychedelic doorway. Once the threshold is crossed, an entirely new lifetime of possibilities stands before you. In 2024, Eric and a small team- will return to the playa with a living doorway! One that will inspire intention, possibilities, and open the door to a bright and hopeful future.

The Doors of Mystere team is currently gathering support to build this intentional portal of becoming. This is an opportunity to contribute to each person who walks through the doors. It will support their dreams, it will guide them to new beginnings, it will be an opportunity for them to walk through the doors and find themselves HOME.

Welcome to The Doors of Mystere

If you are heading out to the playa this year; you will not be able to miss The Doors of Mystere. Set within a stunning 20 ft tall Japanese Tori Gate; the sacred geometric doors will be a key point on the landscape, and a magical site to visit all week. Participants will be asked to set intentions before stepping through the enormous ceremonial doorway. 

In resonance with this year's theme; Down The Rabbit Hole; this piece is created to inspire ritual and intent when traveling through the playa playgrounds. With a dose of mystery, and a week of possibilities; this art structure sends you into the city with sacredness in tow. We erect these doors as an offering to all who are ready for new beginnings. 

We can't do this without you!

In order to bring this transformative experience to life; we need your help to build the doors! Every dollar fundraised is going directly to the artist Eric Miranda to gather supplies and tools, rentals, building equipment, material, transport, etc (see the full list below). It also ensures we can purchase the very important and valuable ground anchors- that keep the doors strapped to the earth and unmoving. This is a gigantic project being built by ONE artist with the help of a small team of friends and volunteers without which this wouldn't be possible. HOWEVER it is your fundraising contributions that truly allow this project to be brought to life, and ensure that we have everything we need to construct a safe, reliable, and sturdy structure for 50k+ people to enjoy and interact with.
