Who We Are:
Hi! We are a husband and wife team of creatives, parents, beekeepers, and teachers.
We are also beekeepers, and we've involved our whole family in the process. We even harvested honey and won 2nd place at the county fair!
Three Bee Honey was inspired by a combination of our students’ life experiences and our alarm about the news of the declining bee population.
The Story:
A young worker bee must choose between her passion for music and her loyalty to her endangered hive.
The Synopsis:
Claire’s hive is in trouble! She and her sisters haven’t been able to forage enough food to survive the coming winter. Now Claire, a lonely worker bee, has to keep up with the increasing work demands or risk starvation. As if that’s not enough, she must also avoid the neighboring hive’s pesky drones, bee-hunting predators, and Nia, the queen’s bossy hive deputy!
When Claire begins forager-training with her two sisters, Hannah and Abi, a narrow escape from a spider leads them to the forbidden Down Below. They witness how other bugs live, realizing the scary stories from their larvae days aren’t true. What’s more, they discover an irresistible music scene, inspiring them to develop a secret performing act of their own: “Three Bee Honey.” The group becomes a hit, but there’s a problem: the hive needs them now more than ever.
When Claire’s musical secret is discovered, she risks losing her new friends, her freedom, her life. With the inevitable collapse of her hive looming, Claire must choose between her passion for song and her loyalty to her family.

Why You Matter:
For several years, we’ve refined the story. While we got positive feedback, no one offered a deal. That was definitely a bummer. However, we decided not to give up. We know there is an audience out there who will enjoy this story.
So here we are: ready to launch our very first Crowdfundr campaign.
We’ve broken up the story into six parts. Your generous contributions will not only enable us to cover printing costs, art costs, and more, but they will also help us bring this story to life.

About Us
Desi St. Amant: Writer
Desi St. Amant is a writer based in Southern California. As a
child, she spent her free time climbing trees, chasing chickens, and
exploring the lush foliage of her grandparents’ backyard while
replaying scenes from her favorite movies. These days, she works as
an ad copywriter after having been an English teacher for 18 years.
As a member of SCBWI, she does monthly critiques with other
experienced writers and shares exciting member news on their
quarterly newsletter. Currently, she writes middle grade stories and
graphic novels.
When she isn't writing, Desi enjoys spending quality time with
her family and pets, going on long runs, listening to podcasts, and
dancing traditional hula--a pastime of over 18 years.
Sometimes--if she's lucky--she even gets sleep.
Jon St. Amant: Illustrator
Jon St. Amant is a writer/illustrator based in Southern
California. Since childhood, he has been imagining and creating
worlds through writing and art. After earning a B.F.A. in drawing
and painting and dabbling in fine art, he returned to his passion
for narrative illustration through comics and graphic novel stories.
His favorite thing to do is character design.
Nowadays, he works more digitally than traditionally with apps
like Procreate and Clip Studio. He is a member of SCBWI, Kids Comics
Unite, and the Cartoonists of Orange County.
In addition to teaching middle school art and savoring family
life, he enjoys hiking, surfing, collecting comics and graphic
novels, traveling, gardening, tending to his bees, playing on his
PS4, brewing beer, and trying unique food.
