Since 2022, between jobs, I have been working on my own GIANT TAHU Lego statue. I wanted to create a TAHU that was accessible, poseable, and affordable.

That's right, you can take his arms and legs and head off, and pose him.

Why should I make it?

Hello. My name is Grumblebricks (Phillip Carter). I was on Channel 4's LEGO MASTERS in 2017, was a judge at the Edinburgh International lit fest short story contest, and I've even been on the radio doing comedy.

Basically. I make things.

I have been making this giant TAHU from BIONICLE for a long time.

But I ran into a wall.

Simply, I ran out of money. Like lots of people I've had a few ups and downs over the years, and putting all my cash into Tahu just didn't seem sensible when I had books to market (that I hoped might have funded Tahu the long way round). I'm still working on that.

Your support here will allow me to get the bricks to test this Tahu in the real world.

I want to finish my digital design, and then buy the bricks to test him for structual stability.

How it works

6. I send you the instructions when they are done

It is important to me that I test him IN THE REAL WORLD because that is where YOU will be able to play with him.

I can test structural stuff in Studio, and I am good at knowing if a build will work, but there's nothing that can match

That's right. You will be able to build this at home!

Because I am going to send out instructions to build him to all my supporters, so it is very important to me that he is absolutely perfect. So, I need to get the parts and test him!

The TAHU statue will be made with 100% real Lego bricks, and I have put a lot of time into researching which parts are the most available on Bricklink and other aftermarkets. I have only picked cheap, common parts so that you can build him as well.

Right now, he is about 2500 pieces.

He is a big boy.

And that's not all.

If you invest in this ridiculous project, I will send you the instructions for TAHU.

The full statue will be about 2/3 the height of the original, at about 90cm tall. He might get bigger.

Bonus: I may be tempted into a contest for someone to win the Tahu, if I don't fall madly in love with him. There's definitely not room for him in my house.

Where the money goes

I will buy the bricks off Bricklink or direct from Lego, and test him relentlessly until he can tolerate even the clumsiest Bionicle fan.

I'll also buy myself maybe one coffee, to keep me awake when I am working on him.

And then the instructions will be emailed to my supporters, alongside other files you might need.
