“A series about growing up to be a person you never wished to become”

Summary

Strangers is a coming-of-age series about childhood best friends who grew apart. Our story follows Violet, a 19-year-old who feels as if she has just arrived at the gates of adulthood in a one way street, but nobody told her where she was going. She feels as if she isn't going on 20, 20 is coming to her, as a threat. This is a moment in her life where she finds herself mourning the years she never even saw passing by, and she never thought they would end until they did. However, upon encountering Vincent, her first genuine friend, at a party, Violet begins to remember her essence, childhood and their friendship.

We want the show to recall childhood and good memories, for this, we have chosen the aesthetic above, we want to shoot in the Richmond area in London, here are some of our inspirations that resemble more or less what we want to make:

Why we want to make Strangers

The shows represents a phase in life that many go through, about growing up to be everything you least expected to be, when your rose colored glasses are forcibly taken away from you and you have no choice but to see the world as others say it is, it talks about growing up but not really changing, facing expectations to be and act like an adult, despite feeling anything but.

It also talks about the people we meet on the way, and how they represent a different phase in our lives. The choices we make regarding whether to allow them to remain or depart reflect our understanding of our own maturity and how we choose to act upon it. Our goal is to show that tenuous line between your 13 year old self feeling wiser than your 20 year old self, the tragedy of growing up and not knowing who you are anymore, and maybe, just maybe, showing the audience how to find out. 

Note from the creator

People are gonna do what they are gonna do, good or bad, but that doesn’t stop me from seeing beauty in them, because it says something about me, not them.

Strangers is my baby, my child really, I came up with strangers when I was going through similar experiences as Violet, I want to be able to show all parts of the gut wrenching era that is becoming of age, I want to show the good, the bad and the ugly, and I'm just thrilled to bring it to life, I cant wait to see it growing and developing into my vision of it, which is what makes me filled with joy with the idea of having other people invested and believing in the project, there is something rather reassuring to know that others see the potential in it too. This is why I am pouring my heart and soul into creating something that resonates deeply, and my hope is that others will also feel seen and validated by the story, knowing they're not alone in their journey.

Our budget goal

We carefully evaluated our expenses, and initially we wanna try to gather around $50k for the first episode, we considered cast and crew expenses, as well as travel, catering, filming equipment and any additional costs such as as health matters, emergencies, submissions to festivals and such, we really hope to eventually find a streaming service to host Strangers, but for now, we want to focus on bringing the show to life and give our best to make it as inspiring to others as it is to us.

Dates and more

As much as we would love to start shooting now, we have deadlines to meet, permits to get, and money to fund, you have discovered us at the very beginning stages of our production, that is why it is so important for us that we get as much support as you can give, with that being said, we want to start shooting in January 2025 for a summer 2025 premiere.
