Save RedNews for 2023/24
Save RedNews for 23/24. This is it then. It's now or never for us. Or we’re gone. We need YOUR support to carry on next season. Please help if you can. Target 400 subscribers for the year. We really need you to 'support the fanzines', now if you can. Help us print on. Thank you so much.
Our annual Sub campaign is now open.
Save RedNews. We need YOU.
Are you in?
YOUR Options to Support and save RedNews...
- Subscribe for the next year. Print or PDF.
- Donate to
the fanzine. Every penny goes on costs.
- Gift a sub to a Red
to help out a fellow Red.
- All options (and you can choose more than one) on the right hand bar of our campaign page.
Make a difference to something truly unique and independent.
If we're gone, we're gone for good, all that we do; the mag, podcasts, forums, a voice, YOUR voice - and we do not want it to be over, not by a long way. We know times are difficult, we're all affected by rising costs - but if you can support, you're keeping the mag alive. Making a positive difference to a fan run movement.
YOUR moment to save RedNews for the year ahead.
If you believe in fanzines, and the different voice RedNews offers, please do support us now if you can. Since 1987 RedNews has been there to cover and run a critical (or complimentary) eye over it all. It has and always will be, a fanzine; 'a non-official publication produced by enthusiasts of a particular cultural phenomenon for the pleasure of others who share their interest.'... We cover MUFC and our and your lives around it; warts 'an all. We don't always get it right, but we try to. Information gets lost on the internet; we provide detailed coverage, and have contacts spanning decades as well as diverse fan memories and opinion. 30+ different Red voices every issue. We'll be there, hopefully, for any more battles ahead - and shining the light on any club, or football, excess.
We write it, how we see it.
Of course MUFC life would carry on without us, but it would surely mean a small but significant gap where we should be each matchday.
So can you be one of the 400 Reds that keeps RedNews going for the year ahead?
UK 7 MAG PRINT COST £42.00 inc p&p

Dear Red,
We're hope you and yours are ok and well - as you've supported us in the past we hope you don't mind us contacting you at the launch of our annual campaign. We're going live now as we need as much time as possible again to hit target. With your support in the coming weeks we can fight on for another year. But it does come down to you Reds, our dear readers and supporters and those who want to pledge and support the fanzine - please give us another year if you can, as we want to be around for the next chapter - still offering a unique voice on the MUFC landscape.
It is so much more difficult each season to keep on, hence, this. I am stubborn though and don't want to call it a day! And we think our unique voice is still worth fighting for and YOU supporting our publication that we think stands on your side of the coin. Your voice, your views. The world changes, we think we always adapt with it. Challenging our owners and pointing out their excesses for 18 long years, and will hold any new owner to account too - that's what a fanzine is there to do; a supportive thorn! A small dot on the OT landscape undoubtedly, but an enjoyable, unique one at that! Come and say hello!
Red News surviving and carrying on is now out of our hands and completely down to you dear Reds/readers by subbing and supporting for the year ahead in Print or PDF format.
We're 37 years old on April 20th. Thank you for your support all the way through.
We know there are so many mediums seeking your attention about MUFC - we're very grateful that you want to also view things via RedNews as well. Seriously, thank you. It means so much to have had YOUR support behind us over all these years.
- Why do we do this campaign so early?
Unless we know we can carry on, we can't carry on. We will be forced to stop printing RedNews at the end of the season if we don’t act now. We've faced such steep rises these past few years, and cost hits were really bad around Xmas. So we need to prepare and be able to cover whatever unexpected rises come next season - and we WON'T put the price up for you from these sub prices listed, this cost covers the whole year. We managed to stave off the imminent threat as we were hit by three unprecedented rises around Xmas. We are NOT putting up the cover price, and we will remain with double issues. It is really hard these days though, we have to be honest. But we know it's tough for you too, so we're very grateful for your kindness if you can manage to sub for the year ahead.
The campaign will end on July 31st 2023.
- Why we want to carry on.
Because we offer a different kind of voice, YOURS. Because we have so much still to say. Because we challenge, are as far away from the mainstream as can be. Because we hold powers to account and also try and have a laugh and proudly remember MUFC history, and as important, it's matchgoing history, present and future and the experiences, good or bad, that come with supporting this great club of ours. Because, basically, we're you. And we like that. We're proud of that. We never wanted to be something we're not. Why wouldn't we want to carry on when we get to speak to so many of you at games or by email?!
In a sea of voices, we think ours is rational(ish), unique and worth saving.
- Why we want to print on in a digital age.
We want to continue being a visual prod every match (and we're now on 1130+ matches Utd games that we have sold at, and can be seen at), praising when necessary but holding to account when needs be so YOUR voice is heard. And however small there are two or three spots at OT standing up for our readers and their views - and the club see that. We know they see us! We know the club hierarchy don't like us either, but we think having RedNews still on the horizon delivers an important voice of MUFC fans on issues that matter to us all. We stand up for normal Reds. We remain no more or less than a fanzine, but without backers, retaining independence and no Editorial control - we now NEED YOUR support.
- We still have so much left to say.
Still so much to say, still so much for YOU to say. Not shouting, not for clicks, but for level headed, decent opinions amongst Reds; for Reds, by Reds. For much less than a pint a month - you are one of 400 people in the world who gets to save, support and triumph independent fanzine culture and a community amongst the huge mass marketed operation that Utd now is, and that sometimes ignore you. We don't. Challenge, question, research wrong doing. Constructive criticism - yet support for the thing we all love; MUFC.
- Red News is not one opinion.
We print stuff that I disagree with. As we keep saying, that's healthy. It's not one view nor should it be. You won't agree with everything. In this day and age that's a good thing. Debate. Differing opinions.
- 'Support the fanzines' is often posted on social media.
And we really appreciate that. But now is the time to give the tangible support that means we can carry on, the actual support. We love hearing 'support the fanzines', 'we'll miss them when they are gone' and this campaign is the point to really back that by supporting the mag if you are able to.
- Donate a sub to a red who might be in need.
Some reds are feeling it, we know these are difficult and challenging times for all and not all will be able to sub or resub. If you want to donate a pdf or print sub to another Red in a swipe of kindness we now include that option. We will pass that to a Red who will be very grateful.
- An apology.
Also an apology, is this post Covid, back at games haze, we miscalculated, let alone with the ACS home debits run this season. Six was not enough mags for the season, and meant we had fanzine gaps at games, and for you and us we missed out on more of the mag. So we're going to rectify that next season and go for 7 mags in 23/24. That does mean a sub price rise, but not by much, to reflect the extra mag, plus the post cost rises. For those of you outside the UK we realise the post hit is now ridiculous, so please if post prices are too high, please consider a PDF option (we can talk you through this and try one for free if you email me, so you can see if it is right for you).
If you don't buy every mag at the game, across the whole season, then please consider this campaign - it ensues you're not missing out on any and means we're then covered for those gaps that you might miss out on too; be it going a different way into OT, missing a few, etc. That extra support of a full season/sub is huge for us. It keeps the mag, podcast, and everything going.
- If you enjoy the podcasts please do try and support the campaign if you can.
We can't have one without the other.
We have many more listeners to the pod than readers (and thanks for enjoying the MUFC and tangents on them) - but the mag and pod have no backers, so please if you enjoy the podcasts, support all we do by backing the fanzine.
- You can donate direct too if you so wish/are able too.
You can also donate direct - every penny goes direct to costs and the mag. We don't waste anything. You know us, we only spend what we have to!
- We're just a fanzine. In this day and age, we really think that's worth preserving and supporting.
We're just a small, 100% independent fanzine. Isn't that a great thing to still have around, 37 years on!
- If paypal isn't for you, we offer alternative payment options.
If PayPal isn’t for you, we also accept cheques or bank transfers, please get in touch for info.
- One more mag left this season for existing subscribers.
Existing subscribers who supported the campaign last year; you still have ONE more mag left which we will send at the end of April. We can add the new sub onto that if you support now, or you can wait until we put a renewal note in with your last mag when it is out at the end of April.
Please note any new subs for this campaign will start from the August 2023 mag and cover the 7 mags we will print next season.
Be one of the 400 Reds that keeps RedNews going for the year ahead.
Take care Reds, and thanks so much for reading this, and supporting what we do - and thanks to every single one of you who can support.
Please take care of yourselves, and please do keep/stay in touch; feedback, just a chat where we sell, or get writing with YOUR views or great MUFC stories, we're here to listen, how YOU are matters to us.
