⭐ pearOS Liminality — Full Kickstarter Story (Improved + Expanded)

A VR Psychological Horror Game Set Inside a Corrupted Operating System

“System Warning: The world around you is a build that never finished loading.”

🌑 The Moment Everything Began

pearOS Liminality didn’t start as a game. It started as a feeling — that strange, liminal unease you get when your computer freezes, the screen flickers, and for a split second you wonder:

What’s happening behind the interface? What’s behind the wallpaper? What’s inside the system?

One night, after a crash that left my desktop stuck between boot screens, I imagined standing inside that broken OS. Not metaphorically — physically. Walking through half‑loaded corridors, hearing the hum of corrupted processes, watching geometry rewrite itself like a glitch trying to heal.

That moment became the seed for pearOS Liminality.

🕳️ What Is pearOS Liminality?

pearOS Liminality is a VR psychological horror game where you explore a corrupted operating system from the inside. Not a simulation. Not a metaphor. A literal OS‑world built from:

  • warm Ubuntu corridors

  • glowing Arch Linux gateways

  • floating macOS‑inspired docks

  • endless liminal poolrooms

  • broken Windows‑style system sectors

Every space feels familiar — like a UI you’ve seen a thousand times — but twisted into uncanny architecture.

This world was never meant to be explored. And now it’s falling apart.

🧩 Debug Your Reality

In pearOS Liminality, you don’t just run from danger. You debug the world.

  • Your wrist‑HUD is your system menu

  • Floating terminal consoles let you rewrite geometry

  • Directory files exist as 3D objects you can move, delete, or corrupt

  • System panics become physical events that chase you

  • Crashing sectors collapse into voids unless you patch them

  • AI‑optional commands let the community expand the world

This is horror built from code, architecture, and liminal OS nostalgia.

🎮 Why Back This Game?

1. Built Ground‑Up for VR Immersion

No disconnected menus. No floating hands without purpose. Everything is diegetic — part of the world itself.

Your tools are physical. Your commands reshape reality. Your headset becomes the window into a system that never finished loading.

Supports any VR headset depending on CPU/GPU strength.

2. Tailored for Streamers, VTubers & Content Creators

pearOS Liminality is designed for creators from day one:

  • Native VMC

  • Smooth‑Cam support

  • LIV tracking

  • VTuber avatar integration

  • Green‑screen friendly

  • Reactive environments

  • VHS filters

  • Dynamic system events perfect for clips

Every stream becomes unpredictable, glitchy, and unforgettable.

3. Lightweight & Broadly Compatible

Optimized for:

  • PC‑VR

  • OpenXR

  • Standalone headsets

  • Legacy tethered hardware (post‑2018)

No forced GPU upgrades. No “you must buy a new headset” nonsense.

4. Eco‑Conscious Digital Fulfillment

Digital-first distribution. Optional physical rewards printed on recycled materials. Zero plastic. Zero waste.

📂 The Story So Far

pearOS Liminality is already playable — alone or with friends.

  • 3 environments built

  • 8+ system sectors planned

  • Terminal command system working

  • AI optional

  • Streamer tools integrated

  • Expect bugs — this world is unstable by design

  • New updates may cause crashes or lag (intentionally thematic)

This is a living OS‑world. It grows, breaks, and rebuilds with every patch.

🧱 Level Environments

Three completed environments, with more expanding:

  • OS‑themed liminal spaces

  • Corrupted system sectors

  • Vaporwave voids

  • Indoor poolrooms

  • Endless hallways

  • Broken UI architecture

  • Memory leaks turned into physical mazes

  • Kernel panic arenas

📡 VTuber / LIV Streamer Integration

In‑engine support for:

  • YouTube

  • Twitch

  • Kick

  • VMC

  • LIV

  • Avatar tracking

  • Streamer HUD controls

  • Volume, brightness, and annoyance sliders

Creators can stream from inside the corrupted OS without breaking immersion.

🔧 Why This Project Matters (My Personal Story)

pearOS Liminality is my first game project. I’m not a big studio. I’m not backed by a corporation.

I’m a creator who loves:

  • liminal spaces

  • vaporwave aesthetics

  • operating system nostalgia

  • VR immersion

  • VTuber culture

  • community‑driven creativity

  • the idea of worlds built from code

I wanted to build a horror game that feels like a system crash you can walk through. A world where debugging is survival. A place where OS design becomes architecture, and architecture becomes fear.

This project is personal. It’s ambitious. And with your help, it can grow into something truly unique.

⭐ Why Your Support Matters

Backing pearOS Liminality means you’re supporting:

  • a first‑time creator

  • an original VR concept

  • a community‑driven world

  • a platform for VTubers and streamers

  • a new genre: OS‑horror VR

Your support helps expand environments, polish haptics, improve stability, and build the tools that let creators shape the corrupted OS.

This isn’t just a game. It’s a living system — one that evolves with every backer.
