So, what is this project?

My name is Miguel Gonçalves, and I’m an independent horror writer from Portugal. My work is dedicated to exploring the eerie, the grotesque, and the unsettling, always aiming to leave a lasting chill in the minds of my readers.  Now, I’m bringing my love for horror storytelling into the world of comics with this terrifying new project.

This anthology began as a single 8-page horror comic, what you might call a standalone nightmare. But the more I explored the idea, the more I realized it had to grow. One story became three, each delving into different facets of fear: the unknown, the grotesque, and the inescapable.

To bring these nightmares to life, I teamed up with Damian Connelly, an acclaimed Argentinean artist, whom I have always admired, known for his striking and unsettling visual storytelling. 

This anthology is a labor of love, crafted to haunt and unsettle. With Damian’s evocative artwork, each story transforms into a vivid nightmare, aiming to leave a lasting impression on readers.

Nightmare Ink

Nightmare Ink is an independent horror imprint dedicated to publishing bold, terrifying, and unforgettable stories. Founded by Miguel Gonçalves, it is a home for nightmares—whether psychological, supernatural, or grotesquely real. With a focus on dark, atmospheric storytelling that lingers in the mind, Nightmare Ink seeks to amplify unique voices in horror, delivering tales that push boundaries and immerse readers in the eerie and the macabre. Miguel Gonçalves

Miguel Gonçalves is a horror writer whose work has been published in international and Portuguese anthologies, as well as on platforms like The Horror Tree. His two published books, The Scarecrow Man and School's Night Out (both short stories), showcase his ability to weave unsettling narratives that blend psychological dread with visceral horror. With a style that embraces bleak atmospheres, creeping dread, and the macabre, his work explores themes of isolation, madness, and the unknown.

Damian Connelly

Damian Connelly is a writer and creator known for pushing the boundaries of horror and the bizarre. His works embrace surreal, nightmarish imagery and storytelling that blends psychological unease with graphic intensity. As the mind behind You Promised Me Darkness and Follow Me Into the Darkness, Damaged People (which have earned praise for their atmospheric and unique style) as well as his work on The Crow: Flesh & Blood, for which he creates covers, Connelly has gained a reputation for crafting narratives that challenge reality, inviting readers into unsettling and unpredictable worlds. His distinct style—marked by haunting visuals and narratives that teeter between beauty and terror—makes his work a must-read for those who crave horror that isn’t afraid to go beyond the limits of convention.

You'll get a comic book with 24 story pages in black and white featuring Damian's amazing art and story by me. 

Below you can see a preview of the artwork. You can see the detail he pours into the page and how he gives each of the story a unique feeling. More than that his art and his feedback just elevate my own storytelling.

Page for the story  "Returned". This is the most supernatural of the three stories present in the anthology.

Page for "Beacon", on this one I tried to lean more to a sci-fi feeling and the isolation of space. But of course there is something eerie and eldritch on it too. Damian really did a good job capturing all of that

Page for "Tag", this is a more grounded story but at the same time the most unsetling. It deals with uncertainty and the unknown even if the setting should be familiar.

We are still working on the lettering so this is not the final work you'll see on print, but it's close.
