About Petra, The Owner
Hi everyone, my name is Petra (Paytra) and I own Likely Story! I have always been a big fantasy and romance reader. As I have fallen back in love with reading in the last few years, I realized I wanted to be even more involved with books. I wanted to create that cozy reading environment that made me feel so warm inside. So here we are, creating our very own bookstore. This will not just be about selling books, but rather create a safe, cozy environment, encouraging reading to all groups of people regardless of status, age, race, sexual orientation, etc, and most of all creating a community.
Current Market and Benefits
Leesburg, Florida is in need of an independent bookstore. This bookstore would not only promote reading, but community and gathering. The goal for Likely Story is to become a place that is comfortable and cozy and that our customers can become family in.
Social media has made a large impact on small businesses, but especially bookstores. For a time, books were becoming a thing of the past, but now people are realizing just how important reading is.
Upon outreaching into the community, so many people stated that an independent bookstore is exactly what Leesburg needs.
Why Do We Need Funding?
Opening a small, locally owned business can become expensive quickly. In order to open our store, we have saved up money, but there are many costs to take on all at once. We have estimated that about $20,000 will help to open our store without putting ourselves into high amounts of debt. This money would go towards renovations (paint, flooring, fixtures), furniture, electronics, food inventory, and at least 2 months of operating expenses. Small businesses, especially in the first year, can struggle, and we would like to alleviate that as much as possible.
With that being said, we want to be as transparent as possible to show the exact expenses funding would be going toward.

Electronics: $3,000
Book Inventory: $16,000
Merchandise Inventory: $4,000
Miscellaneous Expenses: $1,000
Operating Expenses: $2000
