ANNOUNCEMENT: Victoria, BC - Wednesday, June 19th, 2019

We are honored to be invited by local surgeons and health care professionals  to hold a private screening (no tickets for sale, invitational only) of our documentary, “Krow’s TRANSformation”. We will be screening the film to those involved in the medical care of Transgender patients, as well as the administrative staff supporting this care.

DONATIONS: We still have not reached our goal of $30,000 to help complete the movie (music licensing, entering film festivals and worldwide promotions). Please help us get this very important film out for the world to see!

"Krow's TRANSformation" Documentary:

SYNOPSIS: "Never comfortable with “her” body or given name, Kayanna knew since childhood he was meant to be a boy. Struggling deeply with his identity throughout his youth, he adopted a new name – Krow.

At 12-years-old, Krow began a career as a globe-trotting “female” fashion model. While living a glamorous lifestyle, he never felt fully comfortable, despite the attention and praise lavished on him for his good looks.

At school he was seen as a tomboy and cruelly bullied for the way he dressed. Krow found solace in Animé conventions and cosplay, where he found like-minded people who accepted him for who he truly was, giving him new found confidence.

At 18, Krow embarked on the journey towards physically becoming a man. The first step was cutting off his ponytail and then pausing his career as a fashion model in order to begin the process of transitioning.

In a series of honest and often heart-breaking interviews, we see how Krow’s decision impacted those closest to him. His mother, Lisa, initially struggles with the revelation that her child wanted to transition. But, as she learns what it means for him, she begins to whole-heartedly embrace her son’s new life. Then there is Krow’s friend Ashton and his mentor Kas who share their own experiences of growing up in bodies they never felt comfortable in, as well as their personal journeys towards transition.

We witness the continual challenges faced by Krow, including hormone therapies and numerous invasive surgical procedures, such as breast removal and a hysterectomy.

As Krow grows in confidence in his new body, he returns to his career in the fashion industry, taking his first job as a male model on the runway at Paris Fashion Week."

Our Plea:

We are thrilled to be sharing with you the first peek, not only of our documentary trailer, but also allowing me to introduce you to our amazing documentary subject KROW, and as well invite you to be a part of Krow's amazing 3 year journey from 'female' model to male model.

This is an up-close and personal film about Krow, who once was a female model from ages 12-18. In 2015, Krow and his mom Lisa, approached me to produce Krow's very LAST photo shoot as a 'female' model. I was blown away by his courage of becoming his true self as a male and immediately said "yes, of course"! After sleeping on it, I asked them both if they would consider allowing me to follow them and to document Krow's extraordinary journey through his transition, and all of the outcomes along the way...and they said 'yes'! I say "they" as I follow both Krow & his mom Lisa, who's story is equally important showing the parent's side of transitioning.

WHAT IS THIS FILM REALLY ABOUT?

FROM THE DIRECTOR:

On a very serious note I hope by the positive nature of this documentary, and Krow's reveal to the world that transitioning "isn't as scary as they thought", hopefully we can help many kids, teens & adults going through this alone...maybe even save a life. - Gina Hole Lazarowich, Director.

HOW IT STARTED:

PHOTO: Krow previously working as a 'female' model...

PHOTO: Krow today working as a male model

Our documentary covers the entire journey from these first shots of him as a 'female' model, all the way through to the story of how he became a successful International male model today.

SHOOTING BEGAN SEPTEMBER 2015:

PHOTO: KROW's 1st shoot day, TONY PANTAGES (Camera)

I have referred to this documentary throughout the 3 year shoot, almost as a 'how to' transition. We show the day-to-day 'tasks' at hand of what (and how) it takes to transition from a female body to becoming male; 1st Testosterone shots, gender marker changes, 1st shave, surgeries (including full breast removal), and all the highs and lows that go with this very brave journey. We did as well have a lot of laughs over the years of shooting, as Krow is just so 'happy' to be transitioning...but we do tackle the tough stuff, emotions and stories of what life was like prior to making the decision to becoming his authentic self. We also share other brave stories, some heartbreaking, of some amazing individuals like Kas Baker (Krow's Trans Mentor) with wife Emily, and Ashton, whom is also Transgender and has been Krow's best friend since elementary school, where they both attended as 'little girls'.

...and what an outcome! Oh, wait until you see it, it is quite possibly one of the most satisfying and amazing life TRANSformation's one could personally witness and document, it shows that if you have the courage to transition, great things can happen to you.

HERE'S THE CATCH:

I jumped into making this film with NO FUNDING, I had an opportunity and had to 'seize the moment' and run with it. So we started off on our own, with the exception of donations from a camera/lighting rental store (Beau Photo in Vancouver, Canada), some crew donating their time, and stealing money from savings & working on productions to pay hard costs, I managed to stay afloat for THREE YEARS of shooting. But now the money has run out and I need to finish this film, post production is not cheap.

HOW CAN I GET MORE INVOLVED WITH THE PROJECT?

Spread the word via social media. While the fundraising is a critical part of our focus right now, we also want to engage the community in any way possible. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter, share our story on your own blog or social media (tag us at @krowstransformation), and keep an eye out throughout our campaign for other messages and for release dates.
