Help Us Tell the Story of
ASTRO ARCADE: One of Burning Man 2026’s Biggest Camp Disasters
This project is about what happens when a Burning Man camp built on big promises turns into something very different.
In 2026, dozens of people arrived in Black Rock City expecting the infrastructure, transportation, shelter, support, and shared resources they had been promised. Instead, they found themselves caught in the fallout of a camp that unraveled into chaos, confusion, missing resources, broken trust, and one of the most talked-about scam camp stories of the year.
Somehow, through the dust, stress, absurdity, and survival-mode problem solving, the people left behind still tried to make something meaningful happen.
That is the story we’re documenting.
We’re creating an independent documentary / AI-recreated desert fever dream about the misadventures of leading, surviving, and trying to hold together a camp after everything started falling apart. The project uses real footage, interviews, social posts, receipts, first-person accounts, animation, and AI-generated reenactments to tell the story in a way that feels as strange, funny, frustrating, and unbelievable as it actually was.
The challenge is that this kind of production takes compute. A lot of it.
Runway, VideoGen, image generation, upscaling, sound design, editing, and animation credits add up quickly. Every contribution helps us recreate another scene, generate another shot, polish another teaser, and turn this chaotic true story into a documentary worth watching.
Your support helps fund:
-
AI video generation for reenacted scenes
-
Runway and VideoGen credits
-
Image generation and concept frames
-
Video upscaling and cleanup
-
Sound design, music, and editing
-
Archival organization and documentary production
-
Interviews, story development, and post-production
This is not an official Burning Man project. It is an independent documentary about what happened when a group of people tried to salvage community, art, and sanity from the wreckage of a camp that failed them.
It’s part cautionary tale, part desert comedy, part documentary investigation, and part love letter to the people who still showed up for each other when the plan completely collapsed.
Thank you for helping us tell the story bigger, clearer, and weirder.
This is a true story. The rest has been recreated using AI exactly as it occurred... sort of.
This project is independently produced and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Burning Man Project.
