Hi all! I'm Josalin Breault, a Pratt Institute student and filmmaker passionate about using art to shed light on important social issues. I'm reaching out to ask for your support on my upcoming short film Fallen Angel —a project that means the world to me.
The Story
Fallen Angel tells the story of an angel who wakes up in a field, left for dead by the man who assaulted them. With her wings stolen and her trust in humanity shattered, The Angel struggles to navigate a surreal, southern, ultra-conservative world that both celebrates her rape-induced pregnancy and shames her for losing her “innocence.” The film explores bodily autonomy, shining a spotlight on the control institutions have over women’s rights in today’s world.
This is a story about exploitation, dehumanization, and finding agency in the face of oppression. By contributing, you’ll help bring this important story to life and give a voice to those who are too often silenced.
What We Need & What You Get
We are seeking $2,500 in funding to bring
Fallen Angel
to the screen. The funds will go toward production costs,
including but not limited to filming equipment, set design, location
rental, costume creation, and SFX work. Your support will directly
impact the quality and reach of the film, allowing us to create a
powerful and thought-provoking narrative.
To thank you for your support, we’ve created some unique perks:
-
$25
– A digital thank-you card featuring artwork from the film.
-
$50
– Early access to behind-the-scenes footage and a special
thank-you shoutout on social media.
-
$100
– A digital copy of the film when it’s finished, plus a
limited-edition poster signed by the cast and crew.
- $500 – A credit as an executive producer on the film and a personal thank-you video from the cast and crew. Please note: The Executive Producer credit is a thank-you recognition for your generous support and does not grant legal rights to the film or its associated media, including but not limited to distribution, profits, or creative control.
(Note: each tier includes the perks of the previous tiers up to that point. Rewards, other than early-access behind-the-scenes footage, will be distributed after filming wraps.)
If we don’t reach our full goal, we will scale the project down, but your contributions will still go toward making Fallen Angel the best film it can be, ensuring that it gets made with the resources we have.
The Impact
Your support isn’t just about funding a film—it’s about amplifying an essential conversation. Fallen Angel will draw attention to the struggles of marginalized individuals, particularly those whose bodily autonomy is under threat. It’s a voice for survivors and a stand for a society where women’s rights are non-negotiable.
Risks & Challenges
Like any creative project, there are risks. The main challenges
we’re anticipating are logistical - things like scheduling, securing
locations, and sticking to the production timeline. But I’ve been
through enough projects to know how to handle these obstacles. We’ve
already got a talented, reliable team in place and a solid plan to
keep everything on track. If any issues arise, we’ve got contingency
plans to make sure the film gets done.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you can’t contribute financially, there are still plenty of
ways to support! Share this campaign with your friends, family, and
networks. Help us spread the word—every share counts!
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we can make sure Fallen Angel is heard.

What inspired you to create this film?
Fallen Angel was inspired by the ongoing struggles many individuals face regarding bodily autonomy and their rights. The story draws from my personal experiences with sexual assault and the ways in which survivors of assault are often blamed, exploited, or overlooked. It’s a deeply personal response to the need for storytelling that supports marginalized voices and creates space for necessary conversations around trauma and agency.
What exactly will my contribution be used for?
Your contribution will go toward various production expenses, including (but not limited to) location rentals, equipment rentals, costume creation, set design, and transportation. Every dollar will be used to create a high-quality film that effectively tells this important story.
What happens if you don’t meet your $2,500 goal?
If we don't reach our full goal, we will still make the film, but the scope of the project may have to be scaled back. Your contributions will go towards making Fallen Angel the best film possible within the resources we have. Regardless of the final amount raised, we’re committed to delivering a meaningful film.
Are you planning to submit the film to festivals or other platforms?
Absolutely! We’re aiming to submit Fallen Angel to a variety of film festivals, especially those that focus on independent films, social justice, and women’s rights. We’ll also explore options for online streaming platforms to make the film widely available and to ensure it reaches as many viewers as possible.
What steps will you take to ensure the film is accessible to all audiences?
We will ensure that the film is accessible to a wide audience by providing subtitles for those with hearing impairments. Additionally, the themes of bodily autonomy and trauma will be handled sensitively, with content warnings provided ahead of screenings and online distribution.
How will you deliver the rewards?
All digital rewards (such as thank-you cards, behind-the-scenes footage, and the film itself) will be delivered via email or through a secure link. Physical rewards, like the limited-edition poster, will be shipped directly to your address. Additional shipping fees may apply for international contributors.
Can you give more details about the exclusive perks like the executive producer credit?
As an Executive Producer, you’ll be credited in the film, receive a personal thank-you video from the cast and crew, get early access to behind-the-scenes content, receive a limited-edition signed poster and a digital copy of the film when it's finished. Please note: The Executive Producer credit is a thank-you recognition for your generous support and does not grant legal rights to the film or its associated media, including but not limited to distribution, profits, or creative control.
