My name is Aruzhan. I am a 26-year-old producer from
Kazakhstan.
Cinema is not just my profession — it is my life. I
dedicate myself to creating author-driven films that tell honest,
human stories from our region to the world.
My debut feature film, Joqtau, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. That experience proved to me that stories from Kazakhstan can resonate globally. Now, I am working on my second feature film — The Teacher — and I need your support to bring it to audiences worldwide.
About the Film
The Teacher tells the story of Zhandos, a young music teacher living in a small town on the shores of Lake Balkhash. He dreams of escaping to the big city in search of a larger life.
When a former patron of the arts arrives with the possibility of taking him away, Zhandos finally has the opportunity he has always hoped for. But at the decisive moment, he realizes something unexpected: he is deeply needed in his hometown.
This is a story about responsibility, belonging, cultural roots, and the quiet heroism of those who choose to stay.
