Julián Muñoz and his mother do not see each other eye to eye; Julian cuts his hair, and his mamá freaks out; Julian doesn't dress "cute", and his mamá takes offense. It's bad enough that he has to put up with her comments at their family-run panadería, but when Julian develops a crush on the new customer, Valentín, he finds a distraction from his mother's criticism.

El Panadero Y Le Chice was born after I had listened to Germán Valdes's "El Panadero Con Pan" over a hundred times. I was also yearning for romance at the time that I felt compelled to create a romance comic of a panadero meeting a cute person. Because I'm trans myself, I wanted to see a trans chicano find love, so the idea of a trans panadero tackling his mom's comments on his presentation while yearning for the customer became this comic.

About Me

Hi there! My name is Alondra Araujo, and I am a comic artist who loves to tell stories of queer folks navigating relationships. I love creating stories that explore themes of coming of age, friendships, cultural and diaspora identities, and the paranormal. More than often, my comics feature queer Latine characters; having had limited Latino representation growing up, I have been especially excited to demonstrate Chicane culture in my works.
