Imagine this on the Playa: sunlight glimmers dancing on the crystal-clear water, a cooling breeze from splashing water caresses your sun-warmed skin, the fragrance of coconut tanning lotion lingering in the air. The buzz of a pool party, and colorful inflatable toys bobbing up and down. Your hand wrapped around a glass where ice is clinking in the last perfectly blended Pina Colada at sunset before the end of vacation...

Desert Splash is a vibrant, colorful art installation that sparks a whirlwind of emotions: curiosity, anticipation, excitement, amazement, and nostalgia. As we come together, we have the power to gift these emotions to the participants of Burning Man 2023, sharing the collective magic of art, connection, and discovery.

This is a one-of-a-kind thing that everyone has been eagerly awaiting: the public pool in Black Rock City. The idea is to create the full sensation of relaxing party by the poolside. The people of Black Rock City will embrace this game and play along, bewildering new visitors to the pool. Our objective is to evoke strong and unforgettable emotions through the paradoxical and bizarre nature of this installation.

It's a mirage, an unattainable dream, a half-erased memory from childhood, perhaps from a dream or an old movie. It both deceives and justifies expectations, stirring emotions ranging from curiosity ("Could there really be a pool there?") to satisfaction when realizing there is no pool, only its representation. Moreover, the representation is as unrealistic as the initial expectations.

Who we are

We are a group of passionate, talented, and inspired individuals with the lead artist Stanislav Shminke. Our main mission is to gift the residents of Black Rock City with our art and evoke unforgettable emotions.

Last year, our gift to the Burning man participants was an art installation called Diptown. It was a sprawling landscape installation that depicted an entire town, buried in the dust up to their roofs.

In that project, we explored the theme of nostalgia, and our new project, Desert Splash, is also dedicated to evoking a sense of nostalgia.
