SYNOPSIS, written by Lec Hunter
It is New Year’s Eve, and Martha is sitting in her room. A party rages outside. Her girlfriend, Jo joins her, with a bottle of champagne in celebration mode.
Martha reveals she wants to break up. She wants a financially secure, and safe living, and no longer believes being with Jo, an aimless artist, makes that possible.
Jo, completely blindsided by the prospect of breaking up, tries to convince her otherwise. They argue about money. Jobs. Security. Daydreaming.
The party outside the room is raging the whole time. The countdown to midnight begins. Jo begs Martha to stay. But it is too late. The clock ticks over, the new year begins as their relationship ends.
It is revealed we are watching a movie. Jo has made a film about this breakup. It is a screening for the first time and she is watching from the back of the cinema.
She goes outside for some air, followed by Martha. They see each other for the first time since the real break up, now strangers with new lives.
