Project Story

Every great story starts with a spark of imagination. For this book, that spark came from my son, Samuel.

Last December, on a whim, I asked him what he would say if he wrote his own story. I drew a few quick sketches to match his words just for fun. But Samuel was serious. He didn't want a stapled printout or a flimsy paperback; he wanted a real, published board book. When holiday printing deadlines made it impossible to finish by Christmas, I had to set the project aside.

But Samuel kept asking. This isn't a story about a child whose lifelong dream is to become a professional author. It’s simply about a boy who had a wonderful, festive idea and has been waiting with eager anticipation to hold his very own published book. His persistence proved just how much this meant to him, so I went back to work, fully fleshing out the illustrations for his words. Every time I show him a new page, his face lights up.

About Us

We are Samuel and Alissa—a mother-son duo teaming up to bring a little extra holiday magic to the world. Samuel is the true heart and visionary behind Christmas With Santa. Always dreaming up new ideas, he created the original concept and wanted to share his story with others.

As Samuel’s mom and creative sidekick, I’m here to help make that happen. Through my web design studio, Pixel Fresh Design in NY, I’m leveraging my background in graphic design, digital editing, and illustration to turn his imagination into a tangible reality. Together, we’re blending his boundless creativity with my technical experience to build a world we're incredibly proud of.

Because we want to make this world as immersive as possible, we aren't just stopping at the book.Our future products include sticker sheets, holiday activity printables, ornaments, posters, and home decor. Eventually, we would love to make stuffed animals from the characters in the book.

The Art & The Process

To do Samuel's vision justice, I blended traditional artistry with modern design to build a highly detailed world from scratch, focusing on digital creation. I wanted these pages to feel vibrant and alive—a cozy, tactile environment that kids could almost reach out and touch.

With this project, my creative process completely transformed. I dove into researching different themes, textures, and styles, hand-drawing many of the characters and elements to capture the exact look I envisioned. Once a character's design was finalized, I mapped out their turnarounds, unique angles, and facial expressions. Because many scenes required specific perspectives, I built several elements as 3D models and created unique poses using a 3D model rendering environment and other tools. This allowed me to easily move figures around and find the perfect camera angle. Finally, I textured the scenes to give them a cozy, needle-felted aesthetic and brought them into Adobe Photoshop to perfect the lighting before laying out the final pages in Adobe InDesign. Working on the illustrations for this book has taken over 200 hours to make sure everything is just right.

The result is a warm, textured, and immersive world. The scenes are incredibly detailed, and if you look closely, you might spot a few hidden Easter eggs we tucked inside. Keep an eye out for one of Sam's real-life monster trucks, Santa's house inside a snow globe, and a scientifically accurate reindeer scene featuring an all-female team.

Why We Need Your Help

Right now, the book is in active production and is almost complete. Like any meaningful endeavor, this journey has seen its fair share of hiccups along the way—from technical hurdles to missing last year's holiday print—but every challenge has only made the final result that much stronger.

Now, we are finally in the home stretch, and we can't do this alone. Our goal right now is to publish this book by the end of October. Pre-orders are coming soon.

The Christmas season is coming up fast, and we need to get the ball rolling immediately to guarantee these books are printed and shipped in time for the holidays. This campaign is designed to fund the crucial production costs required to cross that fast-approaching finish line. Your support will directly fund:

• Research & Development: Testing print qualities, formatting layouts, and refining complex 2D and 3D environments.

• Creation Costs: Software, assets, and materials needed to build the detailed illustrations, compensate for crafting time, and finalize the digital formatting.

• Marketing & Launch: Spreading the word so Samuel's story can reach as many families as possible this holiday season.
