Logline:

A young man gets sucked into a dreamlike universe where the resident creature keeps him from getting home.

 Summary:

"You Are Here" is the story of a young man who gets trapped in a world built from memories. Think dream-core, backrooms footage meets liminal spaces. 

The film follows Spencer (spangerlookrey,) a young man who finds himself locked out of his suburban home. As he passes the time walking around his neighborhood, it becomes apparent that things aren't as they seem. Bright, hazy colors. Strange noises. Everything is a little...off.

Suddenly, with the turn of his head, he's somewhere else completely. He turns his head again. Somewhere new. Again and again and again. A forest, a dock, an abandoned office--

--still the abandoned office. He turns his head again, but it doesn't work. He's stuck, and it soon becomes apparent that he's not alone...

The Plan:

We have a lot in store for "You Are Here!" After crowdfunding, we're going to shoot in the final week of April. We plan to have a final edit in the summer of 2024. After that, we'll submit to as many festivals as possible.

A feature-length version of "You Are Here" is already in the beginning stages of development. Our hope is that this short will serve as a proof of concept for an eventual Feature Film version!

While making daily horror shorts has been incredibly rewarding, I've noticed a lot of these comments:

So here it is! "You Are Here." A short horror film with all of the classic tropes from my work on social media - liminal spaces, dreamscapes , a touch of analog horror, an uncanny/nightmarish creature,  and a few BRUTAL  jumpscares! 

In late summer 2023, me and my writing partner, Mickey Tropeano, began kicking around ideas. Our goal was to come up with an idea that leaned as heavily on story as it did vibe and aesthetic.

We went on to discuss the rules of the world, the beings that inhabit it, and the heart that drives it all; a young man trying to find his way home. By September, the script was written.

Within the following months, we locked in our crew. Ryan Vergara joined the team as executive producer, Nick Massey as cinematographer, and Kevin Keppy ("Smile," "Cabinet of Curiosities,") as our creature!

In February 2024, I flew out to LA to shoot the promo for "You Are Here." We spent an entire day filming in a warehouse full of run-down, liminal locations - and the results surpassed expectations. Creepy, dreamy, and beyond all, horrifying!

Since shooting the promo, we've been busy preparing for the real thing! We're currently working with SFX artist Paulina Nguyen on a custom-made prosthetic for our creature. Check out her TikTok here!
