Help Us Build the Next Generation of Independent Entertainment
Original stories. New voices. Independent ownership. A community that helps make it possible.
At Riot Act Productions, I believe great stories deserve more than a chance to be told. They deserve the opportunity to grow into something bigger.
We're building an independent production and entertainment company focused on discovering, developing, owning, and bringing compelling stories to life across television, film, digital series, podcasts, and beyond.
We don't chase franchises. We build them.
And we're inviting you to help us build the foundation.
1. Why I Started Riot Act Productions
I've spent more than a decade working in marketing, creative production, and project management, helping organizations bring ideas to life, build brands, and connect with audiences. But my passion for storytelling and entertainment has always been part of the bigger picture.
I created Riot Act Productions because I wanted to build something that combines my professional experience with my love for television, film, and the stories that stay with us long after the credits roll.
I also recognize that the entertainment industry is full of compelling stories and talented creators who may never get the opportunity to reach their audiences. Independent authors, emerging writers, and original storytellers have ideas with tremendous potential, but developing those ideas into viable entertainment properties requires resources, infrastructure, and investment.
That's where Riot Act Productions comes in.
My vision is to create an independent entertainment company that discovers promising stories, develops them into compelling productions, and builds lasting intellectual property that can grow across multiple formats.
Rather than developing projects solely to sell them to someone else, I want RAP to have a meaningful ownership stake in the stories we bring to life, creating opportunities for long-term growth, creative collaboration, and audience engagement.
The goal isn't to just produce content. It's to build an entertainment company with a catalog of stories, a recognizable identity, and an audience that grows alongside it.
This crowdfunding campaign is the first major step toward making that vision a reality.
2. What We're Building
RAP has a long-term vision to develop original intellectual property and adapt existing stories into scripted entertainment.
Our initial focus is on developing a slate of projects, beginning with the potential acquisition and adaptation of an independently published book series into a scripted digital series.
We envision our debut series as an 8-10 episode production with the potential to develop into a multi-season story. This approach allows us to build characters, establish a world, and create an ongoing relationship with audiences rather than treating each production as a standalone project.
But the vision extends beyond one series.
As RAP grows, we plan to develop additional original concepts, explore book adaptations, produce podcasts, and create opportunities for stories to expand across different entertainment formats.
I'm approaching this with a long-term business strategy: develop strong intellectual property, assemble the right creative teams, build communities around our projects, and create entertainment properties with lasting potential.
What This Campaign Will Accomplish
This campaign is focused on Phase One: Building the Foundation.
Before cameras roll, there is essential work that must happen behind the scenes.
1. We need to secure rights.
2. Establish the company's development infrastructure.
3. Prepare our first projects for the creative and production process.
A successful crowdfunding campaign will help position Riot Act Productions to move from early-stage company building and project discovery into formal development and, ultimately, pre-production.
That means moving closer to the point where we can bring writers, producers, creative collaborators, and production professionals together to transform promising ideas into production-ready projects.
Rewards for Our Supporters
We want our supporters to feel connected to the company they're helping build.
Our crowdfunding rewards are designed to recognize the people who believe in RAP early and give them opportunities to follow our progress as the company develops.
Depending on the contribution level, rewards include:
$10 | First to Riot | Supporter-only campaign updates and a digital thank-you from Whitney. |
$25 | The Founding Audience | Everything above, plus a downloadable 40 Days to Riot digital journal: RAP’s founder reflections and public-facing milestones from the campaign. |
$50 | Behind the Build | Everything above, plus six monthly development updates explaining what RAP worked on, learned and is pursuing next. |
$100 | The Development Room | Everything above, plus an invitation to one live virtual founder briefing and Q&A about building RAP and developing its first project. A replay goes to supporters who cannot attend. |
$250 | Name in the Beginning | Everything above, plus optional name recognition on a Founding Supporters page on RAP’s website. Supporters can choose to remain anonymous. |
$500 | Closer to the Process | Everything above, plus access to a smaller virtual group conversation with Whitney about RAP’s company-building journey. |
$1,000 | Founding Circle | Everything above, plus a personalized digital thank-you video and an invitation to one Founding Circle virtual update. |
$2,500 | RAP Champion | Everything above, plus a private 30-minute virtual conversation with Whitney about the company’s vision and progress. |
Every contribution, regardless of size, helps move this vision forward. And every supporter becomes part of RAP's story from the beginning.
3. Why We're Crowdfunding and Where the Money Goes
Building an independent entertainment company requires more than a great idea. It requires the financial resources to acquire intellectual property, establish operations, and bring the right people together to develop projects professionally.
Traditional entertainment financing often centers on individual productions. But Riot Act Productions is at an earlier and equally important stage: building the business and securing the creative assets that will make future productions possible.
We're crowdfunding because we believe there's an opportunity to build this foundation with the support of a community that values independent storytelling.
For our initial fundraising priorities, the money will be distributed in 3 critical areas:
01 | Intellectual Property Acquisition & Development Rights - $$$
Our first priority is securing the stories that will become the foundation of RAP's entertainment catalog.
We intend to pursue the rights to promising independently published works, beginning with a book series we want to develop into our first scripted production.
Funding will help us negotiate and secure appropriate option or acquisition agreements, establish development rights, and begin the professional process of adapting existing intellectual property for the screen.
This is an essential first step. Before we can hire screenwriters to adapt a book series or begin building a production around it, we need the appropriate rights and agreements in place.
Securing intellectual property gives RAP the opportunity to invest in stories with long-term creative and commercial potential.
02 | Building Our Core Team - $$
Great stories need great people, and we're building the team that will help bring RAP's vision to life.
A portion of the funding will establish the company's initial operating capacity by supporting two team members and business development functions, including the work needed to identify projects, cultivate industry relationships, pursue partnerships, and coordinate development opportunities.
This early infrastructure will allow RAP to move beyond the founder-led startup stage and operate with the consistency, organization, and professional support necessary to advance multiple projects.
As we reach our development milestones, this foundation will help us move toward the next stage: assembling project-specific creative teams, including writers, producers, and other collaborators who can prepare our projects for production.
03 | Business Operations & Development Infrastructure - $
We're creating a sustainable business, not just funding a one-time creative project.
Campaign funds will also help establish the operational infrastructure needed to run RAP professionally during its initial development period.
This includes business insurance, software, administrative resources, professional services, and the tools and equipment needed to manage partnerships, creative assets, and future productions.
Funding will also account for legal services, including intellectual property agreements, contracts, and other business requirements, as well as applicable taxes.
These expenses may not appear on screen, but they're critical to building a production company capable of operating responsibly and growing over time.
From Development to Pre-Production
Everything we're raising money for serves a larger purpose: getting Riot Act Productions closer to bringing its first scripted projects into pre-production.
Our initial priorities are to secure intellectual property, establish our core team, and build the infrastructure necessary to advance our projects.
With those foundations in place, we can take the next steps toward engaging screenwriters and other creative professionals, developing scripts, refining production concepts, assembling project teams, and preparing the materials necessary for production planning and additional financing.
This campaign is not intended to fund the entire production of a television or digital series. It's intended to fund the essential work that comes first, namely acquisition rights for our first scripted project.
By supporting this campaign, you're helping us move from vision and early development toward a company that's prepared to create.
4. You're Not Just Supporting a Project. You're Helping Build the Story.
Every production and entertainment company starts somewhere.
Before there's a premiere, a fan community, a recognizable character, or a story that becomes part of someone's life, there are people who believe in its potential.
That's where you come in.
When you contribute to Riot Act Productions, you're doing more than helping us reach a fundraising goal. You're helping create opportunities for independent stories to be discovered, talented creators to collaborate, and new entertainment properties to take shape.
You're helping build the foundation of a company that wants to approach entertainment differently: with independent ownership, intentional development, creative ambition, and a community that matters.
We want our early supporters to be able to look back at RAP's future milestones and know they were part of the beginning.
The first rights agreement. The first creative team. The first script. The first production. And eventually, the first premiere.
These moments don't happen overnight, and they don't happen without people willing to believe in something before the rest of the world sees it.
That's what makes you part of this story.
You don't have to be a filmmaker, an industry professional, or a major investor to make a meaningful contribution. You just have to believe that independent stories deserve an opportunity to grow.
Whether you contribute, share this campaign with your network, or help introduce RAP to someone who believes in our mission, you're helping move us forward.
I'm ambitious about what Riot Act Productions can become. We're intentional about how we plan to build it. And we're committed to doing it independently, with the support of a community that believes in the power of storytelling.
We don't chase franchises. We build them.
And this is where we begin!
