TOM’s debut single Power In My Peace, or P.I.M.P., is a dope, cool, and catchy exploring themes of self-discovery, authenticity, and the contrasts between materialism and genuine connection. Besides these, with the underlying explorations of identity, love, and the pursuit of inner peace, the creative team believes Power In My Peace has the power to resonate deeply not just with the Brooklyn community, but with film and music lovers, too. With that said, the goal now is to translate its themes to the visual medium and to release a music video across social media platforms with the intention of making a significant impact on viewers by empowering them to embrace their own voices.

By expressing myself creatively through my music and visuals, I’m not only promoting my work but also contributing to important conversations and representation within the hip-hop community and beyond. Through my music, and in this case, the P.I.M.P. music video, I hope that my willingness to address sensitive topics and share my experiences as a lesbian woman of color can inspire others to embrace their identities and speak their truths without fear.

Set in Brooklyn, NY, the music video will use the iconic landscape to highlight the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere of the historic borough. Besides paying an homage to the 90’s BK hip-hop scene, we aim to juxtapose this energy with the introspective main character, TOM, who embarks on a psilocybin mushroom trip throughout this three-minute journey. Beyond the “shroom trip” being fun, such will serve as a way for artist, TOM, to explore her interest in hallucinogens as a gateway to clarity and multidimensional reality. (The trip will also, quite simply, add a playful and surreal layer to the video.)

One would be surprised how expensive even a 3 minute video can be. Besides essentials such as wardrobe and food, film expenses like camera equipment, insurance, and crew pay will ramp up the production costs, which is why we need your help!

Given this is an “indie” project, we are excited to have the flexibility to work with supporters of the video through incorporating brands or products in behind-the-scenes footage that will be released on all social media platforms or even by cameos in the principal video. As artists, we know it’s all about creating a community and working together to prop one another’s works up, and we hope to do this with others who are seeking exposure. Hopefully through this project, we can build meaningful relationships that lend themselves to future collaborations and partnerships.

To summarize, I am an artist living in NY, balancing my creative aspirations and providing for my family. I have always wanted to make music and, through this, a difference. I finally have built up the courage to pursue my artistic dreams, and I hope you can help make these dreams a reality.
