Synopsis ⭐️

Delilah's promising skiing career took a detour after an injury compelled her to rely on pain medication, leading her down the path of addiction. In "Bittersweet" we unravel Delilah's web of drug reliance, a surprise pregnancy, and the haunting shadows of her past abuse.  As she confronts her past and strives for redemption, she uncovers the profound impact of trust and relationships, the very things she's been avoiding. Her misguided yet well-intentioned spirit shines through, offering a tale of resilience and hope in the face of life's most formidable challenges.

Our Plan ⭐️

We're set to film our short film "Bittersweet" during winter in Los Angeles, California, operating under SAG-Aftra's Micro-Budget Agreement. As we continue building our team, your support plays a crucial role in making this project a reality. 

Our Growing Team ⭐️

Angélique Georges (Director, Producer) is a passionate French-Australian director based in NYC. She is also an Emmy Award-winning Graphic Artist who has worked on countless documentary films, commercials, and television series giving her a hands-on and technically informed approach to filmmaking. A multitude of experiences (both humbling and bizarre) in the decade since moving to the US has led Angélique to develop a storytelling perspective that seeks to share the connection between humanity and the Kafkaesque nature of life in the 21st century.

Jessi Case (Actor, Writer, Producer) has been passionate about performing since she was five. She wrote "Bittersweet" as a therapeutic experience to put pen to paper the story of a loved one.  Over the past few years, Jessi has been making wide strides in notable roles with ABC, Blumhouse, Hulu, EPIX, Apple+, and MGM. She has starred in films like Garry Marshall's "MOTHER'S DAY" and Amazon's "ON A WING AND A PRAYER". She recently wrapped an HBO Max Pilot "Wild Life" as a lead for Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's company. As a passionate performer, writer, and cinephile, she understands deep emotional truth in storytelling and looks forward to supporting and bringing this story to life as she writes the script, bringing Delilah to life, and producing this project.

Andrei Zakow (Director of Photography, and Editor) is a NYC-born-and-bred Director of Photography and Editor. In his work, he strives to put a microscope on small intimate moments that bind us as humans in a world abundant with isolation. Andrei’s contributions to award-winning documentary and commercial films have taken him around the world and afforded him many unique experiences. Often working with a small team, Andrei has developed an intimate and nimble approach to his work. He is a well-rounded storyteller with an appetite for research, making him able to improvise and quickly provide clever solutions both on-set and in post. These strengths translate into an expert ability to swiftly navigate the narrative filmmaking process and craft beautiful and impactful stories on a low budget.

Director’s Statement ⭐️

After first reading ‘Bittersweet’, I knew that the story Jessi wanted to tell especially interested me because it illustrates some of the insane struggles that are uniquely afforded to women in the present-day USA. As an immigrant with an outsider's perspective, I am constantly shocked by the ease by which people can fall into ever-widening societal cracks and then become blamed for the resulting hardships. One mistake can lead down a never-ending hole if you lack something as fickle as luck or the generosity of others to pull you out.

When we meet Delilah, she is still learning to become an adult as she navigates her addiction and the resulting circumstances. The news of her pregnancy is life-changing - for better, or more likely with the odds against her, for worse. But in the land of dreams, we hold out hope, and can only imagine what she might build if she can get to solid ground. 

⭐️ With your support, we will be able to bring on more team members. While we have big pieces of the foundation in place, we're still meeting with additional potential team members as well as casting our actors to build a team that aligns with our vision. ⭐️

Through the lens of Delilah’s journey, we hope to shed light on the struggles so many face and bring awareness to topics like addiction, estrangement, and abuse.
