Well.

Apparently getting the dream house and the dream job does not include the small administrative detail of having enough money to move into said dream house.

I am beyond grateful, wildly relieved, ridiculously excited… and also, inconveniently, out of money.

Apparently ecstasy and an empty bank account can coexist quite comfortably.

The plot has changed dramatically over the last few weeks though...

My partner, Mark, was looking for an investment property and bought a little house here in Venice that he is generously letting my daughter and me rent at below-market value.

It is not my house. It is his investment property.

But it gives us something we desperately needed: the ability to stay here, in the community my daughter has built her life around, without being crushed by market rent.

Oh... why the blinged-out campaign? If you’re wondering why my public Tower moment suddenly has this much glitz, glamour, ruby slippers, and golden light… I feel like I won the lottery. I feel wildly abundant. My bank account just hasn’t gotten the memo yet.

Because somehow, the next piece landed too:

I am officially the publisher of a new local magazine called Venice Island Living.

It is the first opportunity in a very long time that does not just feel like a job I can do.

It feels like the job I was meant to be doing. 

Publishing. Storytelling. Community. Marketing. Relationships. Local businesses. Venice.

Basically, thirty years of seemingly unrelated experience finally walked into the same room and introduced themselves.
