Hello!
I hope you’re all having a great holiday season and I can’t wait to be back home soon for Christmas. I’ve missed spending time with family a ton since moving across the country and I can’t begin to express how excited I am to be home for the holidays. This was the first year I couldn’t be home for Thanksgiving because I’ve been working nonstop, but I’m excited to announce that my hard work will be paying off very soon in big ways.
Before my announcement, let me tell you a story that you might remember…
When I was ten years old, I made a Christmas list of ten items, centered around one single thing:
Santa didn’t come down the chimney with a dog that Christmas, but I suppose one thing that’s stayed the same is my ability to put my mind to something.
Shortly after this list was created, I began to put my mind to something new, and I fell in love with music. And I’ve been so fortunate in the years since that family has supported my journey along the way.
Beginning when I fell in love with the piano watching Uncle Nate play, and how he’d teach me my favorite Billy Joel songs before I could even read music. A few years later you’d all welcome my piano playing at Christmas parties at Pop-Pop’s, Uncle Nate’s, and Aunt Rae’s. There were even some duet appearances with me on trumpet and Abby on clarinet at Dan-Dan’s house, just before the white elephant where Uncle Mike would surely get the big button remote again. That trumpet I played was the one that Pop-Pop got for my dad in 1980, which was then given to my cousin Michael, and after being passed to me was the trumpet on which I auditioned for and was accepted into Berklee. And since leaving South Jersey for College, I’ve been thrilled to hear about my youngest cousins', Charlotte and Aria's interests in music, and always look forward to jamming with them when I’m home. Even before I could walk I remember Dan-Dan and Aunt Anne playing The Beatles for me, which to this day is my favorite band of all time.
Needless to say, my family has been instrumental in my musical upbringing. After leaving South Jersey to attend Berklee, I honed my craft writing music for movies and graduated a year early. In the fall, I moved right to Los Angeles where I’ve been cutting my teeth in the industry and have reached the turning point in my career.
Announcement...
I’m excited to announce that next year, I will be making my national film festival debut, not with one, but two films I’ve written the music for premiering at festivals around the country – with the potential to be shown around the world.
In the film world, festivals are the bridge between being an unknown and known artist on the scene. I was lucky enough to be discovered by two brilliant directors even before my music appeared at festivals, and they brought me on to write the music for two amazing films. After three months of hard work, I’ve written the music for these films, and next year they will be shown all across the country.
Me, the directors, and audience members of screen tests believe heavily in the strength of the music I’ve written, and not only will my music be played at these festivals, it will also be in contention for awards, and it’s projected that I’ll win best score at many festivals.
Because the release of these first two films is such a turning point in my life, I want to put my absolute best foot forward and maximize their impact: to be there in person at the festivals to accept awards, to shake the hands of filmmakers who were moved by my music and will hire me on future projects. If this is done right, next year will be the year my career takes off in big ways, which is where my Christmas wish comes into play.
While it’s not a puppy this time, this year I have one thing on my Christmas list: help with this final push of my last decade of hard work, from learning music, to honing my craft at Berklee, to the national debut of my music.
Being able to attend these festivals to accept awards, network, and to promote the music means a world of difference for what this opportunity can do for my career, and any help on this final send-off would make a great impact. Thank you so much and I can't wait to see you soon!
Here's a special sneak peek of some unreleased music from each film!
