Ever since I graduated from Colgate University in 1988, I wanted to work in television.  After decades of writing and trying to break into the television business, this is the closest I have ever been to seeing my dream realized.  I have worked tirelessly to craft my screen writing skills, even moving to LA years ago, where I constantly received compliments and rave reviews, but the reality of getting into the television industry is extremely difficult without any representation.  I found out the hard way that Hollywood is not only very difficult, but it is not designed for the average person without representation to get a fair shot. 

My TV pilot, Space Cowboy, has been received by a media company, hence the request for funding to help get this project production ready.  Currently, Space Cowboy, is a Semi-Finalist in the Film Freeway Outstanding Screenplay and Television Pilot contest. Finalist will be named soon.  What I personally like about Space Cowboy, and I am a TV junkie.  It embodies the spirit of America and our shared history, and it makes you wonder, what if we could rewrite history?

Logline:

When a futuristic lawman pursues a ruthless criminal gang through a time portal to 1820 America, he becomes stranded in the past and must stop history from being violently rewritten while grappling with the loss of his family and the cost of vengeance.

Comps:

In the vein of “Westworld” meets “Terminator” with the operatic bravado of a Sergio Leonne western.

Synopsis: It mixes genres in a way that feels fresh and exciting, sci-fi, Western, and historical epic all rolled into one. The time-travel angle is big and cinematic, but it’s also deeply personal, driven by love, loss, and revenge. Dropping a futuristic cop into 1820 America and having him cross paths with real historical figures like a young Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis is a unique twist on world-building and intrigues the audience with questions of humanity. It really resonates with themes today.  

Tone and World: From the Alamo to the White House, we engage pirates, Indians, Confederate soldiers, gunslingers and international diplomats.  It mixes the Old West with futuristic tech and it’s a collision between social norms, patriotism and justice for all.  It’s a walk-through through the compelling history of America. It’s a clash of personalities with a diverse group of characters from all walks of life, which makes it engaging and cinematically unique and distinct from other series.

Series:  Each episode is an historic epic; each character is on an emotional and uplifting journey embodying the spirit of America.  This serialized drama keeps you engaged each week as friends become lovers, bitter rivals become beloved sisters, boys become leaders, enemies become allies.  It’s love, drama, action-packed, it’s a story of new and unlikely friendships formed through hard times.  Each episode tracks Bo Valentine racing against time to prevent specific historical catastrophes caused by our antagonist, while forming uneasy alliances in the past.  The engine sustains itself through evolving time-alteration consequences and shifting moral times. It keeps the viewer wondering, what if things were different.  What if we could rewrite history? 

Ideal Buyers Targets:

Premium streamer or cable (Amazon, Netflix, HBO/Max-style platform).  Event-level genre series with franchise potential.

I have 3 teenagers who continue to encourage me, and this would be lifechanging for me and my family.  The funds will be used for the media company to get my project ready to pitch and hopefully, go into production. I realize nothing is guaranteed, but I am confident Space Cowboy will become a reality.  If I had the resources or someone to help me get Space Cowboy produced, I would not be seeking support.

On the other hand, if there is someone who is interested in Space Cowboy and has the ability to help me get this TV pilot in front of the right production companies, I would greatly appreciate your help and I would be willing to work with other individuals or companies.  I would be forever grateful to anyone who could help bring Space Cowboy to life.
