Erica Smith hasn't added a story.
I got my business license in the the year 2020. This was during the time of covid 19. I was unaware of the lock down which would come days after. I worked at a private early childcare center in St. Louis MO.
- I was happy at first because my job had shutdown and I could focus on my business. However, I was halted because we were told to stay indoors. Also I had taken out a tiny loan from a company called speedy loan to purchase equipment for my business. My business is a pop up food cart where I sell carnival food. I was determined to start Mirage Carnival. I struggled because I had not taken out enough money to purchase my equipment. You may be wondering what does Mirage Carnival represent. It's like that saying in lord of the rings. Gandalf tells Aragon "At my coming on first light at fifth day, at dawn, look to the east". Which means the calvary is here. I want to raise money to house our military veterans by hosting food events. I want to help people in need. Right now nobody know what Mirage Carnival is. It's more than just a food cart. I want to expand my business so that I can help others. My dream is to have an indoor Carnival someday. I never lost hope while in St. Louis. My job ended up laying me off due to covid 19. So I got another job. This time it was in retail. A coworker suddenly got hurt after a row of metal carts fell on her. I tried to lift them but it was too heavy. Months later I realized my heroic act gave me a hernia. I had to undergo bariactric surgery in 2022. The surgeon carved out my belly button. Recovery was extremely painful and hard. I cried everyday and I wished I was dead. No medicine helped the pain. After my recovery I returned to my retail job. Everything was fine but my dream of starting Mirage Carnival was starting to fade. Then my mom got hurt. I ended up moving back to Rochester, New York. I came here to be closer to my mom. She had fallen down the stairs and hit her head. I looked after her while she was here. A friend let me stay with her and I still struggle to pay for the room I'm in which is $620 a month. Recently I also discovered money being garnished from my check. It's from a credit company and they are taking out 220 dollars. I don't even remember them but apparently it's legal. I still owe $861 dollars. For me life has been hard. But life is supposed to be hard. I've been told that by my elders time and time again. However I feel like life's been hell. I don't want to give up on Mirage Carnival because I work so hard on it. My business will also bring diversity to the urban and suburban communities. I'm asking for $30,000 to purchase space and equipment for my business. If you support my business you will recieve a free membership for a month. Members recieve a parcel with coupons and Mirage Carnival products. Members also get to choose one free item from the food cart item. I'm really happy tell my story.
