Following the overwhelming response to Jason Rising: A Friday the 13th Fan Film, we're returning to Crystal Lake for something bigger, bloodier, and far more ambitious.

JASON RISING 2 continues our story while diving deeper into the mythology surrounding Crystal Lake and the legend of Jason Voorhees.

This isn't simply another fan film.

It's a love letter to Friday the 13th, practical-effects-driven horror, and the era of slasher filmmaking that inspired us to become filmmakers in the first place.

And this time, we want to take everything we accomplished with the original Jason Rising and push it further.

More atmosphere.

More suspense.

More practical effects.

More Crystal Lake.

And, of course...

MORE JASON.

THE STORY CONTINUES

The nightmare at Crystal Lake isn't over.

Jason Rising 2 expands the world established in the first film, bringing back familiar faces while introducing new characters—and new victims—into the darkness surrounding Crystal Lake.

We're building a film that respects what fans love about Friday the 13th while continuing the story in our own way.

Expect suspense, atmosphere, brutal practical effects, and plenty of surprises.

We don't want to imitate the movies we grew up watching.

We want to make something that feels like it belongs beside them.

One of the greatest strengths of Jason Rising 2 is the team behind it.

Red Crow Films, led by writer/director James Sweet, is once again bringing together independent filmmakers, actors, cinematographers, effects artists, and lifelong horror fans to return audiences to Crystal Lake.

We aren't approaching this project as outsiders looking at the franchise.

We're fans too.

We know what it feels like when the music starts.

When the woods suddenly become too quiet.

That's the feeling we're chasing.

OUR GOAL: $100,000

Independent filmmaking is expensive.

Our full campaign goal is $100,000.

That funding allows us to complete principal photography and post-production at the level we believe Jason Rising 2deserves.

But there's another important number:

$25,000 — OUR MINIMUM PRODUCTION GOAL

Reaching $25,000 gives us the critical resources needed to move production forward.

Every dollar beyond that minimum allows us to put more of what we envision on the screen.

Better equipment.

More production days.

More ambitious locations.

More elaborate practical effects.

More resources for our cast and crew.

And ultimately, a bigger and better movie.

WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

We want our backers to understand where their support is going.

Our campaign budget is currently structured around three major areas:

50% — PRODUCTION

Cast and crew expenses, locations, equipment, lighting, transportation, food, costumes, props, insurance, production supplies, and the countless necessities involved in putting a film in front of the camera.

20% — SPECIAL MAKEUP EFFECTS

Prosthetics, blood effects, makeup materials, effects fabrication, specialty props, and everything required to make Jason's return appropriately brutal.

30% — BACKER PERKS & FULFILLMENT

Manufacturing and fulfilling Blu-rays, shirts, posters, memorabilia, packaging, and shipping associated with campaign rewards.

The more efficiently we can produce and fulfill the campaign, the more resources we can dedicate to what matters most:

Putting the best possible movie on screen.

Some survivors—and familiar faces—from the original Jason Rising are returning.

They'll be joined by new characters entering the world of Crystal Lake for the first time.

Some may survive.

Some definitely won't.

You'll meet more of the cast throughout the campaign as we reveal additional characters, behind-the-scenes material, and production updates.

PRACTICAL HORROR MATTERS

A Friday the 13th film needs great kills.

And great kills need great effects.

We're thrilled to have special makeup effects artist Christina Kortum of Ravenous Studios helping bring the carnage of Jason Rising 2 to life.

Christina's extensive film and television work includes productions such as Grimm, Bad Samaritan, The Librarians, American Horror Stories, and Alma and the Wolf, among many others.

Our goal is to create effects that happen in front of the camera whenever possible.

Blood.

Wounds.

Prosthetics.

Creature effects.

And the kind of practical horror filmmaking that helped make the Friday the 13th franchise legendary.

This project is being created as a fan-made production and not for commercial profit. Funds raised through this campaign are intended to support the costs associated with producing and completing the film, including production expenses, practical effects, post-production, campaign fulfillment, and related filmmaking costs.

Neither the filmmakers nor Red Crow Films intend to profit from the crowdfunding campaign or from the distribution of JASON RISING 2.

The completed film is intended to be made available to audiences free of charge, consistent with the spirit of the original Jason Rising fan film.

This production is not intended to compete with, replace, or diminish any official Friday the 13th production. It exists because of our admiration for the franchise and our desire to celebrate its legacy with fellow fans.

We have tremendous respect for the creators, filmmakers, performers, artists, studios, and rights holders who have made Friday the 13th an enduring part of horror history.
