Octopus Caveman is a Documentary about Los Angeles based artist. A painter and a musician. Funding is needed for completion (sound editing/color grading).
Octopus
Caveman (who's real name is Anthony Pederson) was born and raised in
Los Angeles. His life has been anything but normal. His birth was a
product of his divorced parents trying to reconcile. They didn't.
With neither parent being able to take care of young Anthony, he
ended up in a Foster home un til he was three years old. His Father
finally rescued him from the Foster home and took him home. At a very
young age, it became clear that Anthony was a talented artist. He drew
pictures, made books. Ultimatley he began painting. As he grew older
his art became popular through his followers on Twitter. And even
though he sold many paintings, he was unable to get a gallery for his
work. He became homeless and lost many paintings after being kicked
out a home he was renting. His recent divorce and loss of a beloved
Uncle, all threw him into a deep depression. Octopus Caveman was
ready to end it all and take his life. But if he did take his life, he
didn’t want his paintings to end up in the trash. So he created a
treasure hunt on Twitter. He informed the world of his plans to his
Twitter followers. Anthony began to place his paintings around the
city, leaving pictures and clues on Twitter where they could be found.
He told his followers to go get them. Since he was going to end it, he
wanted his cherished art to find new homes. All he asked was that if
they found a painting, that they would post a photo on Twitter so he
knew his art had a new, loving home. The response from Twitter was
amazing. People drove from hundred miles away, some in the middle of
the night, just get his art. The end result was a depressed suicidal
artist was given new found hope. His depression cured by his Twitter
followers and their love for him and his work. This is the story and
journey of that event.
“Octopus Caveman”.
Directed by Mike May, the film was shot on an iPhone with no budget, organically. In order to present this film properly, we need to funds finish our post production work. This timely film is about Octopus Caveman but it's also the story of the people that cared enough for him to rescue his paintings and THEIR journey's of how it happened. The end result is a beautiful commentary that there is still good people in this world who still care. And, how social media did something good for once. Please donate.
Sincerely, Michael May
