An Old Song is a 25-minute musical drama short film that centers around the story of redemption for former musician Tyler. Believing his dream of being a singer lost due to his past struggles with drug addiction Tyler (played by Clark Beckham) chose to completely give up life as a musician and instead work at his friend's restaurant while he navigates the road to recovery. It turns out his time to shine has not yet faded away. With help from his friend, Joey (played by Jermaine Purifory), and a dose of inspiration from his former bandmate turned Music Producer, Kaye (played by Alyssa Hanson), Tyler finds the confidence he needs to find healing from his past and perform at the open mic night at Joey's restaurant and bar. It is in that moment that Tyler realizes his past mistakes do not disqualify him from the life he was destined to live. He ultimately is able to use music to bring healing for himself and others.
The inspiration behind this film is the idea that we are never too old, broken, etc to see our dreams come to life. Oftentimes we disqualify ourselves before we ever hit the starting line for our dreams in life. Even in the process of bringing this film to life I personally tried to disqualify myself and this script I had written multiple times over the 5 year process of writing, workshopping, and rewriting the script. It wasn't until recently that I realized how much we needed a film like this one and stopped getting in the way of myself and all this project has to offer. Now more than ever, after the year we have all had, a film like this one reminds us how it's never too late to pursue our dreams or start at them again no matter the circumstances in which we find ourselves.

Over the past 7 years I made it my goal through all of my endeavours professionally and educationally within the film industry to learn as many different aspects of filmmaking as possible. My professional background in a variety of aspects of the film industry has equipped me to be able to communicate my vision for the best possible execution from Pre-Production all the way through Post-Production. Though I am a “green” director, I know that the mark of a truly great leader/director is knowing your strengths and weaknesses and building your team around that. This is why I have selected this specific crew on the project to capitalize on our individual strengths as well as provide additional support in areas when needed.

Her wide range of experience includes feature films, shorts, music videos,documentaries, & commercially branded content. Some of her most recent work includes the documentary, American Trial: The Eric Garner Story, Grace Vanderwall (American Idol winner) music video, Lucky Chops (ICM Partners / Works Entertainment) music video, the feature film Dreamkatcher, with Henry Thomas & Lin Shaye, and award winning short film, Mr. Sam. She is currently producing two shorts, and a trauma documentary.

Nate Powers is a filmmaker based in Chattanooga, TN. In the last 6 years, Nate has directed multiple award winning short films, and directed several music videos for notable artists. Powers’ most recent project is a low budget feature-length documentary, DEATH to LIFE, in which he was both the Director and Director of Photography. The film is currently making waves, winning 3 festival awards including “Best Picture (Documentary)”, and is also an official selection of the Academy Award qualifying Nashville Film Festival.

Eric Potosky is a multi-Instrumentalist and songwriter based in Charlotte North Carolina and Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Eric specializes in working with musical groups, artists, and labels to clarify and produce their musical vision. As part of our film team he is operating as our musical director helping create original music and composing additional scoring for the film. His work can be heard featured in the opening of the film teaser trailer.
