Introduction to Insidious

Insidious is a GM~less horror mystery TTRPG for 1~4 players. It's light in its rules yet dark in its content. Insidious is inspired by Paranormal, Inc., a Carved from Brindlewood TTRPG; Phasmophobia, a ghost-hunting PC game; and H.P. Lovecraft, the master cosmic horror author.

You play as a paranormal investigator called an Illuminator. You're trained to identify, explain, and release dark matter Entities. Entities are nearly invisible beings that are unintentionally created by severe trauma and prolonged suffering. You will explore the location an Entity haunts and theorize why and how it was created, why it still lingers, and how to release it and restore peace.

You only need a typical deck of 52 cards, two six~sided dice, and a pencil and index card to investigate and solve any mystery you play. There are no preset answers to the mysteries in this game; your wild conclusions and successful dice rolls determine the result!

Purpose of Insidious

This is a paranormal horror game and extreme content that may upset some people is included. Insidious was created to help people safely navigate and confront the evil within themselves through roleplaying. All of us have the potential to do significantly evil acts.

Negative urges, if left unchecked and unmanaged, can lead to truly heinous crimes. Becoming a true monster is not as distant or impossible as people wish to think. If we can better appreciate evil and ponder its manifestations within ourselves, we can rise above its alluring temptations and keep our humanity.

Goal - Why $300?

My goal is simply to raise the amount of money I paid the artist for the cover art. I am very pleased with TAG for doing the cover for me (see his page at ArtStation - Artworks by T.A.G). I really enjoyed working with him and am pleased with his work! When you pay, you will get a PDF of Insidious. There is currently no print version available.
