The Jurassic: an illustrated book about dinosaurs
"The Jurassic" is the seventh accordion
book in my illustrated series about prehistoric life. Like the
previous books in the series, "the Jurassic" depicts the
animals and plants of the period in one continuous 108 inch /
around 3 meters long image (unfolded). Together with the other
books in the series, it forms a 64 feet long illustration of the
evolution of life on Earth.
The back side of of the book explains the major events and
evolutionary milestones in the period in plain language. You will
learn about the breaking up of the supercontinent Pangea, the
evolution of dinosaurs and birds, and the appearance of the first
"modern" fish and reptiles.
The book illustrations and text are complete, so this
Crowdfundr's goal is to raise funds to print 500 copies of the book.
Background on this book series:
I started working on this series about 10 years ago. The first
book in the series covers the beginning of complex life, The
Cambrian, and I've been slowly working my way through the timeline.
I've always found evolution fascinating, and I thought it
would be interesting to see the evolution of life laid out in one
gigantic illustration.
I originally silkscreened the books myself, but since the
books were pretty popular and it was a drag having to remake them
over and over, I eventually was able to have them professionally printed by launching a
Kickstarter.
Since The Jurassic will have the same format as these other
books, you can look
at pictures of the previous books in my online store, to see
a preview of what the book will look like.
To complete this series, I need to print the Jurassic, and I
still need to draw three more books: the Cretaceous, the Paleogene,
and the Neogene + Quarternary (Quarternary is a short period
compared to the others, hence why the last book will do double
duty)...To reiterate though, this Crowdfundr is just to print the
Jurassic and not the books I have yet to start drawing..
