What happens when two broke idiots buy a pawn shop and accidentally become useful to the cartel?
PAWNS is a dark comedy series about Chase and Kaden, two friends who are just trying to make enough money to get by so they can dodge telling their parents they were expelled. When they scrape together enough cash to buy a struggling pawn shop, they think they’ve finally found an easy way to make a living.
They couldn’t be more wrong.
After discovering that the shop has been unknowingly used to move merchandise for a dangerous criminal organization, the guys find themselves pulled into a world they have absolutely no business being part of. What starts as a simple pawn shop slowly turns into a ridiculous balancing act between running a legitimate business, dealing with increasingly dangerous criminals, and somehow staying alive. the first seasons plot with revolve around the pawn shop being on the verge of an audit and the boss has given them 30 days to turn a profit before he terminates their business (and them).
The goal of PAWNS is to create a comedy that feels familiar and grounded while constantly raising the stakes. Think two idiots trying to survive a crime drama with the humor coming from the fact that everyone around them seems much more competent than they are.
We’re crowdfunding PAWNS because we want to make this project at the level we know it can be. Your support will go directly toward production costs such as equipment, locations, cast and crew, props, costumes, transportation, and post-production. Every dollar helps us put more of what we see in our heads onto the screen.
