With live-band karaoke, community events, and welcoming spaces for groups of all sizes, we’re here to spark connection and bring people closer—one song at a time.
Who is Drop The Mic Karaoke (Founders Story)
For nearly 20 years, Dianna and John Gray dreamed of entrepreneurship while focusing on raising their two sons and building a strong family foundation. Realizing that dream shifted after Dianna attended a live band karaoke event that left her energized and inspired with a new vision—one centered on creating shared, joyful experiences through music.
What started as a conversation soon became a calling. Dianna and John saw a need for more meaningful, community-driven entertainment in Clark County Washington—something that brought people together through connection and fun. With a leap of faith and months of planning, they committed to turning their dream into reality.
Now, after two years of research and preparation, they’re on the verge of opening a space and launching the next chapter: bringing the joy of music and togetherness to the heart of their community.
Why Drop The Mic Karaoke
Why karaoke?...because it’s not just entertainment—it’s connection. When we thought about starting a business, we didn’t want to build just anything. We wanted to create something that brings people together, something that uplifts, inspires joy, and makes lasting memories.
Karaoke does all of that. It gives people a chance to express themselves, to laugh, to step out of their comfort zones, and to share moments that matter—with friends, family, and even strangers. We’ve seen how powerful it can be to simply sing your heart out and feel supported while doing it.
As Clark County continues to grow, we saw a real need for more meaningful, community-centered experiences. Too many people are leaving town just to find the kind of joyful, music-filled atmosphere we want to offer right here. So we chose karaoke—not just because people love it, but because it creates connection in a way few other things can.
That’s why we’re building Drop the Mic Karaoke—to give our community a place to come together, celebrate life, and feel like they belong.

We need to extend our reach to gain support from others who can afford to pitch in and want to support our goals. Why Crowdfunding
Community is at the heart of why we’re building this business—and it’s going to take community support to get the doors open. We’re are all in, having invested our own savings and using our home to secure a loan for what we believed would cover our start up costs. Like any big project, unexpected expenses have come up requiring essential construction changes to bring the space to current code compliance. While we hadn't intended to crowdfund, we find that this could be the only way to bridge the gap between our dream and our financial reality.
That’s why we’re crowdfunding. Your support will help us get the doors open so we can get YOU on our stage and create the community we’ve been working toward. Every contribution moves us closer to offering an unforgettable experience.

What we’ve done to manage our deficit
- Changed our approach to sourcing equipment (buying used instead of new, assessing what we need vs what we want, etc)
- Reassessing all spend to eliminate costs that are non-essential for opening
- Reducing planned ramp up time for staffing prior to opening
- Putting our own sweat equity into the space for non-skilled construction tasks to mitigate construction costs
- Selling any non-essential assets to reinvest into the business
