We are a small group of close friends who always play games together, especially tabletop RPGs. After playing a lot of different ones, we had a conversation about them and always found things we didn’t like. Then we asked ourselves why don't we make one together. We started creating our world and its story. We made a new combat system, made our character creations, and everything else that one would need to start playing. We started playing with more and more people involved, and we had overwhelmingly positive feedback on our game. It made us decide that we want to give this new game to the TRPG community so everyone can enjoy it. We ask for your support because creating a rulebook, especially a Digital TRPG book of more than 500 pages with graphic elements, well-tested, balanced rules, and systems, takes a lot of time and resources. We are university students from Hungary. Therefore, we sadly don’t have the necessary funds to do this project on our own. We would like to make our rulebook as detailed as possible.

 

Dynamic character creation and advancement system:

In Cealwyrm, there are no classes. The starting skills of the player characters are determined by their backgrounds. Although there are only skill levels and, instead of experience points, you gain learning points to the skills you’ve been using in your adventures.

According to Pierre Bourdieu, a sociologist, there are several types of capitals, which are convertible. Most generals are economic, social and cultural capitals. The character’s background defines the starting capital: the amount of coins as the economic capital, the reputation of the actor factions of the world as social capital and the starting skills as the cultural capital.

At any time, in the game or at out-of-narration time, the characters can learn from tutors or can practice and advance their skills. With this feature, advancement is dynamic, consecutive and realistic. So you can learn new skills and spells during or between your adventures, and the other characters of the same players won’t tail away from the active characters.

 

Rapid combat system:

Weapons are deadly, armour and shields are not only just fancy accessories. The mechanics of the fight scenes are traditional, starting with
an initiative roll, you roll when you attack and when you defend. But characters and beasts have fewer health points than they usually have in TRPG-s. Your Speed attribute and Reflex skill define your Initiative Base, and your Strength or Dexterity attributes with weapon skills define your Combat Base. Your speed defines how many actions you have in one, ~3 sec long round. So, if your enemies are in numerical superiority, you won't be able to attack back, block all their attacks or both. Basically, you have one free action, but if you use dual wield or a shield, you get +1 bonus free action, every other action will consume Stamina Points.

Armours and heavy weapons are exhausting to use, so armours decrease your maximum base. Heavy swords and axes cost more Stamina Points when you use them, but they have an Armour Penetration bonus.

 

Creative Magic system:

The world is full of magic and spellcasters too. The spells have a difficulty stat, which defines how hard they are to cast. You have to roll with your talent and Arcane Knowledge skill. The cost of the spells depends on the character’s Arcane Condition stat. When spellcasting, the character uses their stamina, there’s no separate Magicka pool. The casting time depends on how many Stamina Points were used.

The spells can be learned individually. Many backgrounds define how many spells you can choose from a specific list. You can learn new spells at any time, if you can find someone who is willing and able to teach them.

The Elementary Magic is about creating your own formulas with a mix of the basic elements. Some elements cast at once are combos, some constitute a new spell. According to some ancient philosophers and medieval alchemists, the world consists of the four elements: Fire, Water, Earth and Air. So why wouldn’t a wizard try to recreate it?

The four elements can be cast in two ways: simple form or complex form. The simple form of the elements are only a bunch of them, but in any natural consistency. For example: Simple Air is only an amount of air, Simple Fire is only combustion. But Complex Air can be a strong wind,
or a whirlwind. Complex Fire can be an explosion or a fire orb. When you mix them with Simple Air, Fire and Earth you can create poisonous gas, with Complex Air and Simple Fire, an infernal whirlwind. You and your Lore Master decide where’s the limit.

 

Q: How many players can play the game?

 

A: The game is designed for 3-6 players, although this is flexible.

 

 

Q: What is the recommended age range for players?

 

A: We recommend the game for players aged 18 and up. Some game content may not be suitable for younger players,
and we designed the game with a mature audiance in mind.

 

 

Q: Will there be expansions or additional content released for the game?

 

A: If we reach certain goals with our budget, we may add offical expansions in the future.

 

 

Q: When can I expect to receive my copy of the game?

A: We don't want to be limited by a realese date however once we are at a level of developement where we will be
comfortable making a deadline for the game. We will inform our backers and fans about it.
