Atomic Vaudeville Society hasn't added a story.
WHO WE ARE
Atomic Vaudeville is an artist-driven collective in Victoria committed to fearless engagement with the community while redefining performance in the space between audience, artist & art. We have been creating live shows, cabarets and events locally and nationally for 17 years.
We have not been able to perform live for TWO FULL YEARS and so we’ve pivoted to creating digital, online content. Your support will give us the opportunity to professionally film a 22-minute pilot for a series called THE BATSHITS. This pilot will set the stage for a whole BATSHITS UNIVERSE and culminate in a LIVE MUSICAL, Halloween 2022!
THE BATSHITS
Take a blast back to the turbulent 90’s in an adventure-musical-comedy TV series that follows three women in a goth-punk band as they face off against the urban legends of music in a male-dominated industry. There’s Samara: the witchy one, Kristy: the party girl and Lauren: the feminist riot grrrl. Together they battle the supernatural - the immortal Elvis, the devil, and hungry ghosts that haunt them with every turn of the wheel in their crusty brown tour van, Vangina.
It’s Josie and the Pussycats meet Scooby-Doo with a punk edge and a killer soundtrack.
Will they become the biggest band on the planet or implode like so many bands have before them?
THE PILOT EPISODE
“A Video Deal with the Devil”- The Batshits are making their first music video with a smarmy misogynist director when they accidentally summon the demon Clauneck, and must choose between selling out to The Man or sticking to their feminist ideals. Samara comes into her own as a magical being, Lauren deals with the price of fame versus her staunch feminism, and Kristy still doesn’t get laid. The heart of this episode is how women are pigeon-holed into acting sexy to be seen as successful.
