Taddle Creek hasn't added a story.
“Alice Munro published early work there.” —Misinformed Taddle Creek social media follower.
Taddle Creek is calling it a day this fall, after 25 years and 50 issues. So many memories ... But memories are ephemeral and don’t look so hot on a bookshelf. Solution: The Taddle Creek Book!
Now you can remember your favourite magazine forever, with this 352-page hardcover collection of fiction, poetry, features, and comics (not to mention a grammar rant or two), featuring 32 pages of colour comics, a cover by Hartley Lin, and original endpapers by Matthew Daley.
The Taddle Creek Book contains 70 pieces by almost as many authors, including Suzanne Alyssa Andrew, Sonja Ahlers, Gary Barwin, Cedar Bowers, Chris Chambers, Evie Christie, Michael Christie, Kevin Connolly, Lynn Crosbie, Andrew Daley, Peter Darbyshire, John Degen, Alfred Holden, Jasper Jubenvill, Dave Lapp, Hartley Lin, Derek McCormack, Joe Ollmann, Stuart Ross, Noah Van Sciver, Walter Scott, Fiona Smyth, R. M. Vaughan, Maurice Vellekoop, Emily Pohl-Weary, Adrienne Weiss, Jessica Westhead, Lindsay Zier-Vogel, and many more of your favourites from the magazine’s pages. Plus: a forward by Taddle Creek!
Such a lavish collection isn’t cheap to produce, and, for once, taxpayer-funded grants, sadly, are not an option. The Taddle Creek Book can only become a reality with your help. Be a hero and help to fund The Taddle Creek Book today. (Not a fireman or astronaut type of hero, but a hero nonetheless.)
Along with receiving a copy of the book in return for your support, you’ll also be entered in a draw for one of several prizes, including three complete collections of the magazine and several autographed book bundles.
Don’t miss this final chance to show Taddle Creek how much you care!
The Rewards
- A pledge of $39 gets you one copy of The Taddle Creek Book—a 352-page hardcover, featuring work by 70 Taddle Creek contributors, spanning the years 1997 to 2022. Plus: 32 pages of colour comics, a cover by Hartley Lin, and original endpapers by Matthew Daley.
- Every purchase or financial contribution of more than $39 enters you in a draw for one of two prizes: a complete collection of Taddle Creek Nos. 1–50 (three sets to be won) or a bundle of three autographed books—Wild Mouse, by Derek McCormack and Chris Chambers; Lake Where No One Swims, by Chris Chambers; and Children of the Atom, by Dave Lapp—and a copy of The Collected Neil the Horse, by Arn Saba (Katherine Collins) (10 book bundles to be won). Winners will receive their choice of prize in the order they are drawn.
- Please note: With supply chains as they are these days, The Taddle Creek Book may not ship until the beginning of 2023.
Three Giller Prize Nominees Agree
“Taddle Creek shines a light below the surface, illuminating
what is new, now, and next in our part of the literary
world.”
—Camilla Gibb (This Is Happy).
“Taddle Creek
is a periodic compendium of invention and investigation; an
off-kilter balance of the witty and touching, the intelligent and
the insightful, featuring fiction, poetry, and thoughtful
explorations of the urban, along with sorry-but-not-sorry opinions
about grammar and style.”
—Gary Barwin (Yiddish for Pirates).
“Taddle Creek is smart and funny and insightful and
sensitive. It’s a lot of other things as well.”
—Seth (Clyde Fans).

About Taddle Creek
Taddle Creek was founded in 1997 as a Toronto-centric
literary annual. Over the years, it expanded not only into a
twice-yearly general-interest arts magazine covering the entire
country (and available in a few outposts beyond) but also to a variety
of platforms, including live events, an album, a Web site, a podcast,
a newsletter, a series of art shows, and more. A wide variety of
talented writers have appeared in its pages, representing the
editorial pillars of fiction, poetry, comics, longform journalism, and
art, including Gil Adamson, Gary Barwin, Cedar Bowers, Michael
Christie, Lynn Crosbie, Brian Francis, Camilla Gibb, Lee Henderson,
Gilbert Hernandez, Alfred Holden, Dave Lapp, Derek McCormack, Joe
Ollmann, Andrew Pyper, Michel Rabagliati, Michael Redhill, Stuart
Ross, Emily Schultz, Seth, R. Sikoryak, Fiona Smyth, Katherena
Vermette, Maurice Vellekoop, Noah Van Sciver, Paul Vermeersch, Jessica
Westhead, and Zoe Whittall.
