Through the eyes of Alana Carter, a 25-year-old female race-car driver, this documentary delves into the high-speed thrills, challenges, and triumphs of carving a career in a male-dominated sport, where passion fuels every turn of the wheel.
Hello and Welcome !
Thank you for taking your time to learn about Off the Track! We are passionate, young indie filmmakers trying as hard as possible to be seen in the industry, so having you here reading about our art means the world to us!
Let's dive into our project that we want you to be a part of!
Story
Alana was just a girl from Alberta with a dream too big for the place she called home. At 23, she packed her bags and left everything behind, moving across the country to Toronto to chase what many told her was impossible: a career in motorsport. She knew the risks. She knew the sacrifices. She knew that the industry wasn’t built for women. But she also knew she couldn’t ignore the fire inside her.
The journey was brutal. She spent a long time proving herself, scraping together funds, knocking on doors that wouldn’t open, and facing rejection after rejection. Sponsorships were scarce. The competition was ruthless. And the doubt, both from others and from within, was a constant battle. There were moments when she questioned if it was all worth it, moments when she felt like giving up.
But she didn’t.
Today, Alana is finally breaking through. The struggles of her early days are no longer weighing her down, and the impossible dream is slowly turning into reality. But this documentary isn’t just about her success—it’s about everything that came before it. Off the Track takes you deep into her world, where every race, every setback, and every triumph is a fight to prove she belongs.
This is a story of grit, sacrifice, and the unbreakable will to keep going when the world tells you to stop. Through Alana’s journey, we want to inspire every woman who has ever wondered, What if?, to push past fear and chase their passion, no matter how impossible it seems.
Because the only way to win the race is to start driving.
Filmmaker statement
As filmmakers, we are committed to telling stories that break barriers and highlight underrepresented voices. Alana’s story is one of resilience, determination, and an unyielding drive to succeed against the odds. By capturing the intensity of her racing world and the personal struggles behind the scenes, this documentary aims to inspire not only motorsport enthusiasts but also anyone who has ever fought to prove themselves in an unconventional field.
With immersive visuals and raw storytelling, Off the track seeks to challenge stereotypes, celebrate perseverance, and showcase the incredible spirit of women in sports. It is a film about speed, ambition, and breaking through limits, on and off the track.
Meaning behind Alana's journey
The meaning of Off the track lies in its exploration of perseverance, passion, and breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated sport. Alana’s journey represents more than just the adrenaline of racing—it’s about resilience, fighting against stereotypes, and proving that talent and determination transcend gender. This documentary highlights the unseen struggles female athletes face, from societal expectations to industry bias, making it not just a sports film, but a deeply human story of ambition and courage.
Importance of film festivals
We completed this film in early 2025 and it is time to share it with the world. Bringing Off the trackto film festivals is essential in reaching a wider audience and sparking meaningful conversations about gender, ambition, and perseverance in the world of professional racing. However, submitting to festivals requires financial support for entry fees, promotional materials, and travel expenses.
We are seeking funding to ensure this documentary gets the recognition it deserves on the festival circuit. Alana’s journey is an important and compelling story that can inspire future generations, and with your support, we can share it with audiences worldwide.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, plays a crucial role in helping us achieve this goal. If you believe in independent filmmaking and the power of representation in sports, I invite you to join us in bringing Off the track to film festivals and beyond.
Experience the vision
We believe that those interested in supporting this film should have the opportunity to experience it firsthand. That’s why we would provide you with the link to the film if you decide to help us and include your name in the credits section!
