New Blood Soaked Short from Good Candy Films

Hi everyone! Thank you for joining us on our journey to bring  Syn  to life. We are creatives, artists, filmmakers, cinephiles, and we want you to be part of this exciting adventure. Without the help of movie fans and independent producers such as yourself, this dream could be dead in the night. The best part:  We've already completed principal photography!  That means there is practically no risk involved and you have a completed project that much closer to fruition.

 

But we need help to get this project to the finish line! In just over a week we will be shooting pickups and inserts to elevate several sequences -one special death scene in particular will be getting ooey gooey extra footage. We are on Cut 3 of SYN, and I have a pretty good idea that after this extra shoot day, the picture lock will be a fast reality so the film can hopefully debut this fall.

 

Further expenses during post-production include sound design from Bobby Thompson (Torture the Flesh, Doomsday Stories, Intruder) and a chilling orchestral score from composer Christopher J. Cozzi (The Spaghetti Man, Haunted House of Pancakes, Hamster in my Head, Shady Grove). These elements are crucial to raising the overall quality of this project, and our meetings together have been really exciting. During the reshoots we will be capturing additional gurgles, moans, breaks, spurts, screams, and moans; I can't wait to bring these audio elements to life.

 

Now's the time start thinking about marketing, festival fees, screening costs, etc. What's the point of making a great film if you can't show it? Ever dollar you contribute will keep this project alive and get it front of as many people as possible.

 

Syn  tells the tale of three young twenty somethings who are preparing for a quiet house party on the eve of the new year. Their plans are interrupted when a dark secret from their past comes knocking at the door with a peace offering, and a warning:  Don't drink before midnight, or else...

 

Lifelong friends Laura, Ryan, & Ally are about to suffer the consequences of scorn, mistrust, and not following the rules. A sprinkling of 90's nostalgia, a dabble of Final Destination, practical effects and a blood soaked good time are afoot in  Syn.

 

The Cast

 

This initial funding campaign helped us raise the capital needed for pre-production and production. This helped cover the location costs, crafty & catering, and prep for special effects and art design. We want to do as much as we can with practical effects and we have some exciting kills prepared for you. One death scene in particular may be the first of its kind! There is no plan to use AI for the effects sequences, and Ashland is against the use of AI for the film and final marketing materials. Some AI elements may be utilized for initial concept art, but it will not be used for the final poster or images during release. Support artists. Support indie film. Support filmmakers. Good Candy Films was founded by entertainment veteran Ashland Thomas and is based in Chicago. He is ecstatic to produce & direct his first horror short for Good Candy along with Gabriela Alicia Morbeck of Wolffnight Productions. Syn was written by Morbeck & Thomas. We are proud to represent a diverse cast & crew representing the LGBTQ+ community, a female led cast, and many lead female creatives.
