Hello! I'm Shawn Burkett, Have you heard the good word about Mothman? or Project: Mothman?
Mothman and Point Pleasant are one of the great American folklore stories. A genuinely weird blend of local legend, mass hysteria, and pop culture. real place, a real disaster, a genuinely ambiguous creature, and no definitive debunking.
Project: Mothman is about a small film crew chases YouTube fame with a documentary on the Mothman legend of Point Pleasant. But in filmmaking, nothing ever goes as planned. As the shoot unravels, something lurking in the dark turns their documentary into a full blown horror film.
I’m known for a scrappy, DIY approach and for stretching a micro-budget further than it has any business going.... which is exactly the skill set you want if you’re making found footage horror.
At the moment, we have most of the film shot and edited, but before we film the final scenes, we want to make sure the creature looks as real as possible. And a huge thank you to the Mothman Museum for helping us film after hours!
That’s right: we’ve built a suit that our Mothman, that Emily McAnulty will wear, and will be operated by our team.
Between the built-in lighting effects and animatronics, we can promise you’ll see every inch of Mothman on screen.
This films is a even blend of found footage and a straight forward documentary. This is 100% the best way to draw people into the film, just to keep them on the edge of their seat.

This year we completed The Devil You Know and as it tours the festival circuit, we plan to begin shipping out perks before the end of the year!
