Hi everyone!

My name is Ugo and I'm from a small town in Québec/Canada. I always was interested in filmmaking. My life took a drastic turn recently when I was given a permanent impairment for serious injury diagnosis. I can't do my job anymore and I can't do my hobby Brazilian jiu-jitsu anymore.

While I spiraled down depression and panic attacks, I had a lot of time to think. I needed a new hobby, chain smoking wasn't doing it. An idea for a film came to my mind. I would be a little project for me and my 5 year d daughter. I wrote some ideas down and started to talk about it to some close friends. When my idea seemed solid enough, I went to google and looked for how to write a script. I found the writterduet app and started typing.

Another crazy idea came to mind. What if I could actually do this film and where should I show it? Well, since it's an horror film, I looked for SPASM, a horror film festival in Montréal. SPASM is for movie less than 30 minutes from what I see on their website. That's a reasonable goal for me. 

From there, I wrote my script every chance I had. Having my script completed, I had to have some friends read it. With positive feedbacks, I started looking at what gear I would need.

My first idea was to use my cellphone. I needed a tripod. I thought the sound would be bad and needed a microphone also. From there I shopped and read a lot on the subject. I've found a reasonable option, but the option is not an option. I'm broke and still waiting on if I'll be relocated within my work company. My insurances claim are taking forever to be treated and I just can't buy the gear for now.

So I did the only reasonable thing to do in that situation, I went to the bar. I showed my script to a few friends and the guy sat next to me told me a friend of his was deep into filmmaking. He told me there was probably some subvention program I could request from.

After some research, I found a purse program I could potentially be approved. I sent all the required documents and looked further at the program. I could get up to 3,000$. With that money I could buy a good camera and microphone. That would step up my film and have me climb up the ranks to be selected for the festival.

While waiting news on the purse, I looked deeper and deeper for financing. What if crowdfunding was the solution? Here I am, hoping to find help to finish that project.

I have until august 11 to submit my work. Which leaves me plenty of time. Hopefully, I can start production soon.

The film is about a father whose daughter drowned. Her death hunts him and leads him to alcoholism and medication abuse. No dialogue involved.

It's an emotional and dark film. The score will deepens that feeling even more. The music is selected and secured already with the possibility to change it at any point.
