Hello my name is Chase Dover, I've been a dedicated lover of film all my life, I have studied film religiously for the past 7 years. My latest project Fortune of Many explores friendship, love and trust, but above all this film will explore how those qualities can be completely destroyed by greed. I think this film is crucial with the state that our world is in right now. I aim to highlight the importance of loyalty and the consequences that come about when that loyalty is broken.
Our Story begins on a foggy summer morning. There's a very faint sound of a cardinal singing his morning song. These woods are neither upgraded nor downgraded by the presence of humans. The Cardinal hears a stick break and immediately shoots his head toward that direction and flies away. Soon we hear more and more sticks breaking at a rapid pace. In the distance we see six people, dressed in all black, sprinting through the woods. The group stops, they look at one another, and then all at once let out cheers of celebration. One of the group members walk over to a large black bag and unzip it. It is revealed that the bag has 2 million dollars in diamond and gold jewelry. We soon find out that this group has committed a smash and grab robbery and successfully got away from the police. I bet you would be cheering in that situation too. It took months of preparation and planning and only the select people could have made this happen. We'll start off with our leader Holden. Holden is a 65-year-old construction worker, he made plenty of bad decisions in his life which led him to make drastic decisions in order to secure living wages until his departure from the earth. Then we have our second in command, Jackson the driver. In his early twenties Jackson went through a very dark time in life. He resorted to drugs and thought of no better way to block out the problems of the real world. Holden having similar issues in his youth, guided Jackson into sobriety, something Jackson will never forget. Along with Jackson we have Ava the Navigator. Jackson and Ava fell in love about a year ago. Ava spent a lot of time with her father, they would go camping, this suits Ava to navigate through the uncertain woods. Next we have Cora the lookout. Cora is an African-American female who works as a stripper. Cora has two boys that she raises alone. All that she wants is to give her boys a better life without having to get naked at work. Finally we have Owen and Mercer. Owen was assigned to hold the guard hostage, while Mercer being a very large gentleman, was assigned to smash the glass and take the jewelry. Everyone is very appreciative of Owen, he has a very good heart and is great working with others. Mercer is the exact opposite, he puts people on edge, he is very hard to trust. Holden was very vocal about all of these people playing a part in the robbery. All is looking up for the group. They will all take away over $300,000 each, but as you all may have figured out this is a story about humans. The group trudges through the woods and they set up camp. They have a night of laughter and camaraderie. The next morning the group wakes up and to their surprise Holden is laying in front of his tent with his throat cut. It seems that someone in the group was not happy with $300,000 only. As we continue through the story we see many twists and turns, with the ultimate goal being get out of the alive and with some money. We see how paranoia, fear and distrust will make the most empathetic person into a ruthless being. I do refrain from exposing the details throughout the story, because who likes a spoiler?
I will be putting any funding towards necessary equipment and fair compensation to the cast and crew. I think this story can highlight everyone's talents who are involved. All of these characters are written to explore all of the emotions. This enables any actor who is involved the chance to really push themselves and really find confidence in the creative process.
The most important thing is, I want to give you guys a great story and a great film experience. I am rooted in the great storytellers like Martin Scorsese, Park Chan-wook and Werner Herzog. I want to make a fast-paced thrill ride that explores what humans are capable of under extreme circumstances.
