UT San Antonio Film and Media hasn't added a story.
We are proud to present UT San Antonio's Production Capstone short film, a project that brings together twenty dedicated film students to create one powerful story. This is a big collaborative project where students step into professional roles and work side by side to bring a film from script to screen. People Who Crawl represents the discipline, creativity, and teamwork of the Capstone course and serves as a showcase of what film students can accomplish at advanced cinematic level.
People Who Crawl is a psychological thriller with horror elements that explores the hidden darkness within a seemingly ordinary Southern family. Set in Little Springs, Texas, the film follows Rebecca “Birdie” Barron, a curious 10-year-old, and her older brother Ben as they navigate life under the watchful, often harsh eyes of their parents. Their father, a meticulous embalmer, and their mother, who exerts strict, controlling influence, that create a household that is tense, unpredictable, and emotionally charged.
Through intense and unsettling family interactions, the film reveals how the children live under constant oversight and constraint. People Who Crawl captures the quiet intensity of life in a controlled home, leaving the audience with lingering unease long after the screen goes dark.
As a student film from UT San Antonio, People Who Crawl is a passion project created by a dedicated team of 20 students. Without professional budgets or outside investments, we rely entirely on the support of our community to bring our vision to life. Your contributions help cover essential production costs—such as equipment, locations, set design, props, and post-production—allowing us to create a polished, high-quality short film as our senior capstone project. By donating, you become a vital part of the storytelling process and a true co-creator. Supporters will be recognized for their contributions in the film’s credits, and businesses that contribute will have the option to be acknowledged by name as sponsors. All supporters will also be invited to our special end-of-semester screening at Santikos Palladium, where you’ll see firsthand the impact of your support. Every bit of help brings us one step closer to completing a film we can all be proud of.
