Hi. I'm Zé Burnay, an artist from Sintra, Portugal. You may know me from my ink drawings, music, zines or my comic Andromeda. Or you might not know me at all, in which case you can learn a little more about my work HERE.

I'm launching this campaign to raise funds for my newest book: The Book of Augurs. 

What is The Book of Augurs? It's an hardcover artbook collecting my "Augur" series of illustrations, with each piece presented alongside an atmospheric piece of writing. 

The Augurs was a series of drawings I did during the course of 2022, a set of bird-of-prey bodied omens, each one with its own symbolic theme. In this book I've gathered all twenty drawings (many of which have only been shared on Patreon previously), carefully arranged their sequence and wrote text to accompany each of them.  The result is a mix between a mythological bestiary and an artbook. 

The goal of this campaign is to produce the best looking book I possibly can. No expenses spared: 
- fully clothbound hardcover
-Two color foil stamping on front cover and spine 
- Drawings reproduced at their original size.
- Book measures: 19,8 x 28 cm / 7.7 x 11 inches
- A beautiful heavy stock paper for the interior. 

This campaign would cover the production of a limited print run of 500 copies, which might expand if we surpass the initial goal.   

Production timeline: The book is finished and ready for print and this crowdfunding serves basically as a pre-sale and to cover the production expenses. Once the campaign reaches its end, the turn around should be fairly quick. All depending on the printers, of course. The goal is for backers to be getting their books and other merch as soon as possible.

These are the last eight originals from the book that are still in my possession. Each one measures roughly A4 (8.3 x 11.7 inches) and was drawn with brush, pen and ink on watercolor paper. They'll be shipped with tracking.
