Back to Bones is inspired by the cartoons and movies I grew up watching as a kid. Looney Tunes, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail to name a few. I’ve always loved physical comedy and over-the-top storytelling. But I was also captivated by more serious, cinematic worlds like The Lord of the Rings. When it came time to pitch my senior capstone I couldn’t decide which direction to go… so I met in the middle.

Back to Bones is both an action comedy and a fantasy epic. Our film jumps back and forth between two sides of the same story, blending big cinematic moments with silly, character-driven humor. After I drafted a quick three-page script, the recruitment process began. I reached out to a lot of peers, and some even reached out to me. Soon, our team of 19 artists was formed, and Back to Bones was officially greenlit. My silly little idea was quickly on its way to becoming a fully-fledged film, all thanks to the best team I could ask for...

Animation takes time, patience, and a lot of hard work. Every asset, character, and scene starts as a drawing before it’s modeled, lit, textured, animated, and polished by someone on our team. Every single person contributes to bringing this world to life. We’re committed to making a film that not only looks great in a classroom setting, but one that can actually compete at festivals and be something we’re all proud to show the world.

Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we won third place in a global grant competition. We currently have $1,000 invested in our project and we’re in a strong position. But our team hasn't slowed down. We’ve continued working through winter break, pushing ourselves to deliver the highest quality film we can.

Any additional money we raise will go directly toward making that vision real. It will support our musicians as they create original music for the score. It will help us produce marketing materials and merchandise to spread the word. And it will allow us to fund our festival run after graduation, helping the film reach as many people as possible and making us eligible for student awards.
