Aluna and Yuluka - Burning Man 2026 & 2023 Honoraria Art Projects

In 2023, Yuluka was born from a vision inspired by the ancestral wisdom of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia. Through the support of our community, we successfully brought that vision to life at Burning Man, creating a space for reflection, connection, and cultural remembrance in the heart of the Black Rock Desert.

This year, that journey continues.  We are returning to Burning Man with two interconnected Honoraria Art Installations: Yuluka, returning to playa after its debut, and Aluna, a new creation inspired by the same spiritual and cultural roots that gave birth to our double headed caiman.

Together, Aluna and Yuluka tell a larger story: one of origin, memory, reciprocity, and our relationship with nature, community, and the unseen forces that shape our reality.

Both projects are bridges between worlds, between ancient knowledge and contemporary expression, between the mountains of Colombia and the desert of Nevada, between remembrance and possibility. Campaign Story

In this year's Burning Man Theme Axis Mundi, ALUNA emerges as a golden body of memory, vibration, and consciousness.

Part sculpture, part ritual space, part live instrument, ALUNA is an immersive art installation that invites participants to experience the invisible forces that shape reality itself.

Through the interaction of sound, water, frequency, and human intention, ALUNA transforms vibration into visible geometry using the principles of cymatics, the study of how sound frequencies organize matter into form.

As participants engage with the piece, water responds in real time: Patterns emerge, frequencies crystallize, and invisible energy becomes visible. The work creates a direct sensory bridge between body, emotion, consciousness, and its environment.

The Meaning of ALUNA

ALUNA draws inspiration from the ancestral cosmology of the Tayrona culture the Colombian Sierra Nevada, where Aluna represents the invisible realm of consciousness and intention,  the place where all things exist before becoming physical reality.

It is the field where thought becomes matter... Where creation begins before form.

In dialogue with this year’s Burning Man theme, Axis Mundi, ALUNA reimagines the axis not as a monument or tower, but as living water itself: a conduit connecting spirit, land, body, and collective consciousness.

The installation becomes a living portal between the seen and unseen worlds.  A place where participants do not simply observe art , they actively shape it.

The Experience

Participants are invited to interact directly with ALUNA through sound and frequency.

As tones resonate through the structure:

• Water surfaces reveal sacred geometric formations

• Vibrations generate evolving cymatic patterns

• Light and sound animate the environment

• Collective participation alters the visual landscape in real time  

Each interaction becomes a meditation on resonance:

-How our emotions shape environments.

-How frequencies affect matter.

-How intention leaves invisible traces on the world around us.

ALUNA invites participants to witness creation itself, the moment vibration becomes form, and thought begins to shape reality.

Bringing (2) interactive art installations to Burning Man requires immense collaboration, engineering, transportation, and community support.
