Project Story: The Inevitable — A Short Film on OCD Awareness
From a very young age, I have used writing and performance as a way to make sense of the world , first in theatre, and now in film. As an MFA acting student, I’ve always been drawn to storytelling that reveals things people experience but rarely talk about. When I began writing The Inevitable, it was because I realized there was no piece of art that truly reflected what it feels like to live inside Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), especially the kind where thoughts feel like they have a life of their own.
I wrote this story from inside my own experience with existential OCD and the process of exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy. These experiences have shaped who I am, the challenges, the discoveries, the humor, the heartbreak, and ultimately the resilience that emerges when someone decides to face their internal world, not hide from it.
What The Inevitable is
The Inevitable is a short film based on my own life, written
to translate the internal landscape of intrusive thoughts and
compulsions into a cinematic form. It takes audiences beyond
explanation and into embodied experience. This is a film
about what it feels like to be inside a mind that refuses to be quiet,
and how connection, vulnerability, and honesty can make that inner
world visible in a way that builds understanding rather than stigma.
The film is not just for people with OCD, but for anyone who has struggled with anxiety, confusion, or misunderstood experiences. I want viewers to recognize the humanity inside what others call “quirky” or “perfectionist.” I want this film to create empathy, to move audiences, help them see differently, and start conversations that matter.
Why We Need Your Help
This project is a non-union, volunteer-based
production, supported by passionate creatives who believe in
its message. While equipment is provided by the UConn Dramatic Arts
Department and many collaborators are working without pay, there are
costs we cannot absorb on our own. Your support will help:
-
Provide meals for the crew during production
-
Offer modest gas stipends and small gratuities to collaborators traveling from out of state
-
Purchase props and set materials that help bring the written world to life on screen
-
Cover research consultation to ensure sensitive and accurate depiction of mental health
-
Submit the finished film to festivals that amplify work about mental health awareness
Every dollar brings me closer to transforming these words on the page into a film that connects with real people, in real communities, and sparks genuine empathy.
You Are the Hero of This Story
This isn’t just my film , it’s ours.
Your support means you’re helping lift a story that rarely gets told.
When you contribute, you are not just funding production costs — you
are joining a community of people standing up for honest storytelling,
mental health visibility, and art that opens hearts.
Whether you donate, share this campaign with a friend, or simply
follow its progress , you’re part of making The Inevitable
possible.
Thank you for believing in this story, and in the
power of storytelling itself.
